Description for Chevrolet Chevelle 1970

No your eyes are not playing tricks. This is a custom built Chevelle SS and is 27 inches shorter then an original. I named this one SHORTY for obvious reasons. To the best of my knowledge it was built in Southern California in the mid 90's. The project was well though out and it's built very well inside and out. It was obviously raced and has a full roll cage. It may have been street legal in California but not here. The winshield wipers had to be installed including the wiper motor which had no possible mounting point since the motor and firewall were moved back 5 inches. That took a bit of work but it now has working original hidden wipers. You will notice I had to use the recessed Big Block valve covers designed for a power brake unit to clear the wiper motor. There was no neutral safety or backup switches so a new floor shifter with those additions was installed and wired. There was no inner front fender skirts so they were added but in chrome. The engine compartment is now done up with chrome or polished aluminum components for the WOW effect. The tunnel ram intake was also polished.
The rear frame section was square tube built and tubed to say the least. The metal work was done extremely well. Rear is a narrowed 9 inch with 4 link and coil over springs. I mounted huge Hoosiers radials mounted on 15 inch deep dish aluminum wheels. Narrow 15 inch front aluminum wheels have 4 1/2 radials All tire are new and still have the nubs. Engine has less then 500 miles since the build. Started out as a 427Cu 4 bolt main block bored .070 with custom pistons on a 496 stroker kit, beam rods and a Scat crank. Heads were ported and flowed with stainless valves. Hydraulic roller cam kit with 4-7 swap and roller rockers. MSD distributor and ignition module. Edelbrock tunnel ram with new 600 Holley carbs. Electric water pump and dual radiator fans are computer controlled for speed and cycling. Modified 350 turbo trans. Disc brakes all around. This was a California car so NO RUST. All panels are solid with nice fits. New Cobalt blue metallic paint. Trunk mounted battery in recessed pocket. Holley electric pump with custom built Stainless 15 gallon gas tank with in trunk fill. Interior was redone with a new dash and new $1000. gauge set. Tilt column with removable steering wheel for easy access past the roll bar. It is only a 2 passenger ride and has comfortable molded bucket seats with fitted black vinyl covers. The driver seat has a 6 point harness. Even the fire extinguisher is Chrome. Headers with a custom exhaust with side exits in front of rear tires. The car looks perfectly normal from the front and from the back but the side view is usually gets a jaw dropping double take, ome verbal stuttering and head shaking with disbelief. I have a considerable amount invested in this project and I spared no expense on completing it. There is a few items which need to be mentioned, he doors are completely custom in size and configuration so no windows ever existed to fit but they can be easily made. I have door window track hardware and new power window regulators that can be installation and Lexan windows can be fabricated. Door and trunk weatherstrips were not reinstalled after it was painted. A new chrome master cylinder was installed and I have a chrome Power brake booster and a chrome vacuum tank which I will included and can be added if you wish although the vehicle stops just fine. Although the paint look good with a high gloss clear coat it is not what I would consider show quality but it look good with some minor flaws in a few spots. I stopped taking it to car shows because my wife was bitching about were all the trophies were going to go. Its a fun car to see and drive but I need to thin the herd and clean out some of the stable. Letting it go is going to hurt. Shorty is being sold "AS IS" with no warranty. Sale is final. You bid, ou win, t's yours. Good luck bidding.
