The beneficiary of an 11-year, round-up restoration, his awesome Chevelle has been fully worked, itted with a balanced and blueprinted 427 and decked in traditional Yenko war paint. But here's the best part, t isn't just another rare showpiece that's a practice in moribund competition and garage queen gimmicks. BODYWORK/TRIM

One can't help but smile when they look at a Chevelle this cool. Assembled in Baltimore, aryland, t's everything car guys dream of from the first time they say "muscle car" to the day they trade their high octane V8 for an electric rascal motor. Decked in PPG Tuxedo Black 2-stage, nd displaying a traditional array of Yenko Super Car stripes, his Chevy is the product of a detailed, 1-year restoration that started with a solid body and fresh NOS fenders. Its profile is a carefully orchestrated combination of excellent panel gaps, oors that close better than new, nd a flat finish that stretches from tip to tail. And presently, ts appearance is much, uch better than any mass-produced original from the '60s, arrying a super clean shine on top of impressive, igh quality metalwork!

By 1969, hevrolet's Chevelle had earned the tagline "America's most popular mid-size car". And GM, nowing not to mess with a good thing when they see it, ang in the new model year with minimal aesthetic changes. At the front of this coupe, trademark crossbar grille centers a prominent blue bowtie between a re-chromed bumper, lean parking lamps and clear T3 headlights. Behind that grille, n SS-exclusive hood anchors finned louvers between a flashy "Chevelle" header and pristine greenhouse glass that's traced in straight stainless and fresh vinyl. Below that glass, right Yenko badges and small marker lamps float between bright door handles, correct chrome mirror and dent-free wheel well trim. And at the back of the car, correct black valance centers dueled Yenko emblems between clear taillights, flashy "Chevelle" deck script, second re-chromed bumper and polished exhaust tips.

ENGINE

Check this Chevy's clean engine bay and you'll find a balanced and blueprinted 427 that was donated by a 1968 Corvette. As it sits, his Chevelle is a classic answer to the question of what to do when your car's original powerplant experiences failure: install a bigger one, f course! And judging by the dyno-tuned mill's awesome looks and great performance, bigger" seems like a natural solution. Oxygen and fuel enter the combustion chambers through a polished and decaled air cleaner, resh stainless fluid lines and big Holley 4-barrel. Below that carburetor, sea of brilliant Chevy Orange covers the block from the base of its Winters aluminum intake all the way to the bottom of its stamped steel oil pan. At the back of that intake, reliable points distributor shoots spark through eight MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Below those cables, right chrome valve covers perfectly contrast Winters aluminum heads, hich seat solid lifters over stock exhaust manifolds. And, t the front of those valve covers, liable GM hoses snake through authentic tower clamps to a heavy-duty radiator that's mounted beside a clean, elco-topped battery. Aesthetically, his road ready Chevelle's glossy exterior paint is perfectly complemented by a monochromatic engine bay that's been detailed to a very high level. All the right extraneous bits, ike factory power brakes and factory power steering, re present and accounted for. And if you think this description sounds good, ust wait 'til you hear the big block run!

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Underneath this impressive A-Body you'll find a fully sorted chassis and solid, riginal floorpans that, ike the car's glossy exterior panels and lust worthy engine, ave been restored to very high standards. At the center of those floors, n era-correct Muncie sends power to a rebuilt GM 12-bolt that spins big, .10 gears inside a posi-traction differential. Holding that stellar drivetrain in place is a beefy F41 Sports Suspension, hich was fully tagged during the restoration and features factory power steering and correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust flows through correctly chambered pipes to small, ear mounted mufflers. And power meets to the pavement through slick American Racing Torq Thrust Ds, hich spin F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports. In keeping with the 427, uch attention has been paid to making sure everything under this Chevy is clean and ready to go. Naturally, ll the car's weathered bits were replaced during its extensive rebuild. Its floors wear a smooth coat of black paint. And items such as a new stainless fuel tank, resh stainless fluid lines and standard stainless hardware ensure years of carefree cruising.

INTERIOR

Open this second generation Chevelle's solid doors and you'll find an attractive red interior which appears to have been completely replaced during the car's extensive restoration. Centered in those new components is a trio of fresh seats that's fitted with familiar "sYc" branded headrests. Above those thrones, tight headliner shows none of the drying or fading that's typical of vintage cars. Opposite that headliner, ike-new carpet anchors a traditional Hurst shifter inside a sculpted console and thick floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, tainless-trimmed door panels add a little visual pop. At the front of those panels, n ornate dash founds optional Deluxe Instrumentation over small Stewart Warner accessory gauges and a correct Delco Blue Light Stereo. In front of the driver, reproduction Chevrolet Rally Wheel laps a tilting column that's topped by a large Stewart Warner tachometer. And behind the cockpit, he car's fully restored trunk wraps a fifth American Racing wheel and fifth Firestone tire in a correct jack, new mat and correct decklid decals.

Over the past five years, K Motors Charlotte has retailed more big block Chevelles than any company in the world. That said; this awesome Yenko tribute is probably one of the coolest A-Bodies we've ever offered.
