Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1981
This is one Awesome C3 Corvette both in looks and performance. The two main things everyone wants in a muscle car. It looks like a beautifully restored stock 1981 Corvette, xcept maybe for the "stinger" hood and Hooker 4" side pipes. It gets attention and turns heads everywhere.
However, on't let the "stock" looks fool you. Underneath that beautiful red exterior lies the "Beast" . A custom built Jon Barrett Chevy big block producing over 600HP and 686FP torque. You may know the "Jon Barrett" name from the TV series OverHaulin. Jon supplied some of the engines used on the show. Anyone who knows engines knows the sound of a big block with a high lift cam, he sound is unmistakable. Combine that with the MackJack headers connected to Hooker side pipes and the sound is heart stopping. But just to be stealthy the exhaust is also connected to MagnaFlow mufflers via Pipes electric cutouts, o highway cruising is easy on the ears and you can slip into the cars shows without anyone knowing what lies inside.
The Big Block is connected to a custom built Monster Transmission 700R, he overdrive makes highway driving a pleasure. If you are a Corvette guru you are now asking yourself; "how in the world is all that horsepower getting to the ground" ? It sure can't do it with the old "batwing" independent suspension that came stock and was rated at 195HP. Solving that problem took a little work and it meant removing all the old suspension and replacing it with a heavy duty 4 link system with Richmond gears, uburn POSI, oser axels, aer disk brakes and QA1 coilover adjustable shocks. An $8,000 upgrade alone. Another plus of a custom rearend was the ability to calculate the perfect dimensions to get the biggest tire under the wheel well without having to cut the body. CenterLine was able to build a wheel with the perfect backspacing to get the Mickey Thompson 10.5" street slicks to fit with the necessary clearance.
I don't want to go into a lot of detail on the Corvette "antitheft" system wiring and the "ribbon cables" , ut to sum it up the entire electrical system had to be upgraded to handle the NASCAR switches, utoMeter gauges, elays, use blocks, ooling fans and the SONY sound system.
There is much more to the build on this beauty and we can get into the details for those of you who are truly interested.
I have included as many photos as allowed in this format but have complete photo documentation and parts list of the build.
Someone will own an absolute awesome ride and I look forward to telling you more about this beauty.
