Description for Chevrolet Other 1946

1946 CHEVY COE TRUCK
This is a cool old truck, nd has a very nice body for an un-restored 1946. At some point, t was a fleet truck for Haney trucking. This is a trucking company that is still in business, nd the Haney logo is still on the door. The door says " Sunny or Rainy, hip by Haney". The phone number is also on the door which is a 4-digit number, o you know it's been on there a long time. I'm sure the lettering was most likely put on the door in the 40's or 50's, aybe when it was new. The patina on this truck is cool, nd I would drive it as-is and with a wax job you could see the door lettering better. This truck also has a brownie auxillary transmission which is kind of neat. It's most likely an overdrive, o get the gearing upand to give you more gears for large loads. This truck does not have a two-speed rearend, hich may be why they added the brownie. I believe the brownie is a 4-speed giving you 16 forward gears. I know many buyers may not use this drivetrain, ut the brownies are on ebay for $1250 so they must have some value. It would be neat transmission for a ratrod or just sell it. These COE's look great restored to original, ut also make nice rod projects. Many reproduction parts are sold for the pickups and are the same as the COE. There are a lot of creative ways people have restored these trucks. They put flatbeds, amp bodies, ollbacks, ampers, nd pickup boxes on them. Regular 8-9' stepside boxes from the era look great. Restoration pieces are made to build a bed out of scratch, ncluding tailgates. I've seen custom crew cabs built out of these, nd suburbans/panels too. I have some experience shipping vehicles and can help with that process. If you want to do something early on the truck, mail or send your number and I can call. I have a link with 65 pics I can send also. Thanks.
MECHANICAL
This truck has the original complete drivetrain. I'm pretty sure the engine is a 216. The engine could run, ut I'm sure it would need some tinkering and clean fuel. I have not even checked to see if it will turn over.I can check and see if the engine is stuck, f it matters to you. The 216 was not a great motor when new and if your going for original style, any people switch to a 235 which has more power and durability. I know many buyers will also repower with a V8 or diesel engine which is a better option in my opinion. The truckrolls and steers fine. It has a manual transmission.I have not tried the brakes.
BODY
This truck has the original paint, o bondo, nd is nearly rust free. Each door hasa little rust in theexterior skin. Easily fixable by a bodyman with raw sheetmetal. There is no other rust in thebottom of the doors, r any other part of the body. The floors, oof, rame, enders, ood, ams, teps, ab, tc. are very clean and solid. No sign of any rust through or pinholes anywhere besides the door skins. This truck is exceptionally straight for a COE of this era. The hood is very straight. It is just not shut correctly in the pics as the latches need a little work. It does latch though. The doors open and latch properly. All glass is flat and some needs replaced. Fenders are nice. Overall an exceptional body to start with for restoration, r wax it and use it with the patina it has.
INTERIOR
Interior is original. Seat needs redone obviously. Gauges and dash look original.Nothing lookscut.Floors under the seat springs are just asnice as the rest. This actually has a headliner that is mostly intact, hich is uncommon for the year.
OVERALL
These COE trucks get tons of attention at the car shows. There are many online pics to see how they are fixed up and get ideas for your truck. Below are some other coe's so you can see the potential. Thanks, nd happy bidding.
