Up for sale is a true barn find 1960 2 door hard top Impala. It was purchased out of a barn in South Carolina. If you have been wanting to own and restore one of these cars, his is the one to get. It is 100% complete down to the last peice of trim. Why risk buying a car that someone has already torn down only to find there are pieces missing? This car has a factory 348, bbl carb, ower brakes and power steering. This car is all original with an upgraded transmission. Out of the factory it would have come with a powerglide, t now sports a TH400.
The 348 runs smooth and fires right up. See the attached video. Its running off a gas can right now, ut I will be borrowing my buddy's electric pump this weekend to pump the old gas out of the gas tank and hook it back up to the motor.
All 4 wheel cylinders have been replaced, he brakes are a little mushy but they work enough to drive around the neighborhood or onto a car trailer. The wheels are brand new 15x7 Torq Thrust Ds.
The interior is in great shape (see pics). The seats look to have been recovered a few years back. All of the trim is still intact. The floors even have a period correct one piece over the hump plastic floor mat. The door panels are starting to tear, ut can either be fixed or replaced. The front half of the headliner is sagging.
The body is straight and still has original paint. There is surface rust in several areas as seen in the photos. The floors are good and the frame is solid.
The Bad: The bottom rear quarters up to the wheel wells on both sides have had work done to them. They make patch panels for those areas to make repairs much easier. The lower, uter passenger door has also had some filler as well as a spot on the driver's door. The trunk pan has rot and should be replaced, ower you can still carry things in it bigger than a tennis ball. (see pics). There is one spot of rust through underneath the rear window where a piece of trim has fallen off (see pic). The knee knocker corners of the windshield and the points on the doors where they meet each have a quarter sized hole of rust (see pics). The gas door springs are rusted so you have to manually close it. Under the battery tray has rust through like most any car before 1975. The very front lip of the hood has rust through as well. All of these places are very repairable as they do make patch panels for most of them.
The glass is all there, he dirvers window is cracked and has a 1'' gap when rolled all the way up ( I think it came off its channel.) The wing windows also have a crack, ut the windshield and rear window are great.
I have attached videos showing the engine running and a walk around of the car. Should you have any additional questions or if you would like specific pictures, lease dont hesitate to ask.
I am proud of my 100% feedback rating and I strive to keep it that way.
I have a clean and clear North Carolina title in my name for this car.
A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction's end the remaining balance is due within 5 days of the aution's end. I accept cash in person or a wire by bank. I can help load the truck if you wish to have it shipped, ut all shipping arrangements are to be made by the buyer.
Good Luck!!
