-1970 Chevelle 2 Dr. Hard Top w/454ci out of a 70 Corvette - New Turbo 400 Factory A/C car – VIN indicates Van Nuys. CA. Production - I started this project 4/2004 - Purchased car with no motor; transmission was brand-new (not rebuilt). I built this car to be driven. not as a weekend show car; none-the-less its a really sweet daily driver and has been positioned in some local car shows gleaming next to the best of em. Car handles well and is easy to drive. hard not to roast the tires with the possi rear-end and all that raw HP. Everyone wants to talk about the car every where I go. Car was originally Fathom Blue Metallic out of the Factory in Van Nuy's California. I Painted it in 9/2008 - Matrix System Viper Blue Met. (Blue Pearl) w/Black Stripes & lots of clear. As mentioned this is not a flawless show car - the paint now slightly aged. garage kept. is a solid 8 from 1-10. The body work was completed by an old pro - super straight - gaps are all nice. Wet sand and buff by a pro would take it to the next level. This car has been completely re-done/gone thru; almost everything is new or re-built. way too much to list. but I will try to hit the big items - it would actually be easier to list what’s not new. 12 bolt possi rear-end received new bearings. Turbo 400 trany is solid w/800-1000 stall. This thing handles well and sets on a set of 4-15x8 Kelsey Hayes Aluminum Corvette wheels - tires are Dunlop G/T Qualifiers 265/50 in the front / 295/50 in the rear - no rub. Knock-offs come with the car. but i never put them on. Disc brakes in the front - New Calipers & Master cylinder - turned drums in the rear w/new wheel cylinders. Suspension includes KYB Shock. big sway bars w/poly bushings and Drag Bags in the rear Coils / New Gas Tank & sending unit. 454ci motor is out of same year Corvette that was re-built with a lumpy cam. The entire project only has maybe 1500 miles on everything. Miles are 95% idle around the county. The stated odometer reading in the listing is actual. but I am sure its been around at least once in its life-time. I was out of the state for 5 years after completion. so its hardly been driven. Competition Cam - I believe in the "High-Energy" Series 510 Lift / Hooker Headers/Aluminum Intake / Dble Pumper Holley/HEI Distributor/all the access. on the motor are new. I put a fat Radiator in it and the Aluminum valve covers are custom made. Latest items I put on the car were Stainless steel trany lines to the radiator. Nice custom bent exhaustInterior is stock - Black. The dash has all the round clusters - additionally there is a small SW oil Press. & Summit temp. gauge tastefully placed. CD stereo in the original stereo hole / New carpet / New windshield & wiper motor / Headliner is original and nice - it has Bucket seats with the floor shifter in the console. Lap belts for 5I'm a straight-up guy so ask questions. Couple items to mention: 1. ) I never installed the e-brake cables from the back of the drums to the Y-cable from Parking brake - easy to fix. but No Parking brake2. ) A/C is factory original but not functional - A/C stuff is in the dash and on the firewall – no pump or condenser. New window felt and rear roll-up window rubber moldings might be nice the OEM rubber is getting stiff and the black vinyl on the front door arm rests need to be re-glued in the corners - minor. As I understand it - in 1970 you could go to the GM dealership and order a Chevelle directly with whatever options you wanted - period. So. this car has some nice options that were right out of the factory and its pretty awesome to drive. I have always enjoyed these cars; this is the third or fourth one I've owned and by far the most powerful - first 70' was a small block with a Muncie and then a 66' Chevelle. then . well anyway.
