Description/Introduction:
This is a great, olid, ery clean, lassic & dependable, 966, hevrolet, Ton, leetside, ong bed, ood bed, ickup Truck with a strong V8 motor with about 35K miles on it for: daily driving, riving occasionally, orking, auling, railer pulling, urther restoring &/or making it into a rat rod or a hot rod. This truck was never in any kind of major accident when I owned it (and don't know of any major accident when I didn't own it). The only significant thing that happened to it while I owned it was the small scrape and small dent on the back, ower part of the panel on the passenger side, n front of the wheel - still visible.

Many other items have been replaced, epaired, pdated and/or restored over the years so that this truck would be comfortable, ttractive, ependable & useful for me. It also drives well, uick, traight and strong, long with accelerating and stopping well.

OWNERSHIP/INSURANCE:
I am the legal and registered owner of this truck.
This truck has been family owned since August 7, 982.
Also, t is presently insured in my name.

CONDITION:
I feel that this truck is so solid and dependable that I would have no concern in driving it across the United States (and back, f needed).
What doesn't work (well) or is missing:
Left Turn Signal Automatic turn-off:
Doesn't turn off automatically, fter making a left hand turn. You need to
manually turn the blinker off with the blinker lever. The right hand signal
turns off automatically, hough.
Windshield Fluid Container Bracket:
I have the Windshield Fluid Container (never used), ut not the bracket.
Windshield Washing System:
I believe it worked up until I took out the make shift, lastic bottle that I was using. I was going to switch over to the more standard bottle/container (bought, wn, ut never used). I believe the bottle/container will need a specific bracket. All the hoses and spray heads are in place, tc. Even the little pump (mechanical, f I remember correctly) was gone through.
However, seriously thought about by passing the old pump system & installing an electric pump. It is bought, n the video and in some of my pictures (may or may not be shown), nd it is included in the sale of the truck.
Driver Door Stop:
It partially works, ut not fully, s one can see the damage from the door pressing into the fender in the video &/or in the photos.
At one time I replaced both Door Stops, robably, hortly after being painted.
Once the one wore out/down or ? and the door began to touch the fender, intended to get another one, ut never got around to it.
Choke for Carburetor:
The cable works, ut it isn't attached to the carburetor any more.
As I remember, he old air filter cover (included in sale) wouldn't sit right on top of the carburetor with the new distributor that came with the new motor, o I converted to an air filter cover that would clear the distributor. However, here wasn't enough room for the choke linkage to clear, o I disconnected it & the choke remains in the full, pen position - but can be closed manually. I was very able to start this truck easily without a choke when I drove it daily for years and years.
Tail Gate Hinges:
It doesn't have the hinges, o it comes all the way off and doesn't hinge at the bottom.
However, he tail gate rides very well without them, s long as you connect the two chains/hooks properly!
I've used it like this since 1982. I've only left the tail gate once! (Maybe twice)
Glove Box:
The inside, ardboard (?), ompartment is missing.
I have a small box that I slide under the seat that I use for storing stuff in.
Linkage:
It works very well, ntil you try to shift from first into second in a sloppy fashion.
Then it may get stuck in first or second gear, arely happens & easy to unstuck.

Missing one screw on headlight trim.

Painted:

A lot of the rust was taken out and metal plates were wielded in.
Took off door handles, ut window glass (including windshield & replaced it with a new one) and frames, umpers off, aillights off, urn signals off, rill off, eat out, looring stripped down to bare metal, nly left in back window!... See Photos.
I know I sanded on that truck for about 2 weeks! A very good car painter did the fine work and painting.

Shift on the column
You need to know how to drive with a clutch & having experience with the "H" pattern, st, nd & 3rd

Linkage:
It is under the hood.
It locks up (usually in 1st gear, hen going from 1st into 2nd gear) if you don't know how to shift it right.
Since I know how to shit it (gently following the "H" pattern from 1st into 2nd) I would only lock it up about once a year (maybe two or three times a year on a bad year & then not at all for a year or two).
To unlock it, ou need to stop the truck, pen the hood, rab the linkage (I put on a glove) & pull up on it. After this it shifts fine again.

No sYncro into first gear:
I believe this was just the way these transmissions were made. 2nd gear is very long, o sometimes I just start off in 2nd gear. I would double clutch sometimes & could get it into 1st while still rolling if necessary. This has not been a problem for me. Once in a great while, lmost having to stop, r stopping to get it into 1stgear, as been annoying, ut very, ery, ery rarely!

There are two sideboards.
They allow one to stack stuff into the back of the truck higher.
I will include them if you want them, ut will trash them if you don't want them.

Rear Bumper:
Came on the truck when I bought it in 1982.
This bumper is so handy for stepping up into the back of the truck (especially with the tail gate off).
Easy to take off to paint.
I removed, anded, rimed and hand painted it at one time. Not a hard job.
I would have it powder coated if I were going to restore the truck more.

Tailgate:
No hinges, o it can come completely off. This makes it handy for loading and unloading things.

Door plates:
~12/1999, ew.

Weather stripping around doors

CAB:
Hole in floor board was repaired, ut & metal welded in.
Floor boards have been covered to help with sound deadening inside (silicon & roofing material) & out (spread with rubberized coating).

Paint discoloration below gas cap:
Due to having a very, ery full tank of gas and then parking the truck immediately on a slope that leaned toward the driver side of the truck, his allowed gasoline to leak out of the cap (once) and then drip onto the body (for about 5 hours), hus eating away some of the paint & primer & leaving the discoloration.

GLASS:
Overall, he glass is in pretty good shape.
Windshield:
The windshield was replaced when it was painted last. It has 3 star cracks with one having a crack about 5.25" long. I sort of remember having the guy put a small mark at the end to keep it from cracking further, ut maybe not. There is a very small dot though at the end of the crack (coincidence?). One of the stars is super small, he other kind of typical.
I may have had them all treated (epoxy added) @ one time, ears ago, ut I can't remember.
There is also a small "dot" chip or ? in the windshield as well.
I tried to photograph these, ut they didn't really show up at all in the pictures, o I did not include them.
The rest of the glass is in pretty good shape, ith just some minor imperfections (small chips, taining, and marks, tc.).

CONDITION:
If you try to close the door with all the windows and vents closed, ou will not get the door closed with a casual swing. The reason is that when I put the truck back together, was diligent to make it as airtight as possible. So, hen you close the door (unless a window is slightly open, tc.), ou need to close it a bit hard to overcome the back pressure from trying to compress the air inside the cab so the last door can close. So, here is nothing wrong with the doors at all! Only some back pressure to overcome when closing the doors.
Everything works pretty well on this truck both mechanically and electrically. Lights, indows, nobs, evers, tc.
There are some scratches/swirls on the back window where I accidently sanded the glass, ame on one of the wing windows/glass. These are not huge flaws, ut none the less, here.
The truck was lubed within the last month and the oil is to be changed before the auction is over.
The Air filter probably has less than 150 miles on it.

DISCLOSURE:
I've tried to describe this truck to the best of my knowledge. I recommend and encourage all bidders/buyers to come, o inspect and to drive the truck before bidding.
The title is a clear Washington state title, n my name (since 04/19/97) and the Title is in my possession.
Please remember that this is a 49 year old truck and has some bumps, ruises and rust that I have not yet fixed. But many, whole lot of them, ave. This truck is not perfect, ut there has been a great start for a classic daily driver, estored classic or even a hot rod.
I tried to take descent pictures of the windshield's stars/crack but they didn't turn out very well at all (very fuzzy and really couldn't see anything). Between the video and pictures (some highlighting &/or showing blemishes, cratches, ents, ings, tc.), any imperfections have been pointed out &/or shown, ut certainly not all.

The interesting sound sometimes heard in the video is probably from the throw-out bearing:
It has made this sound since I can remember (& can be normal for this vintage of truck?)
When I push the clutch in it goes away.
I think it is most noticeable when it is in neutral, dling, he clutch is out, ike in the video. However, f I push in the clutch and let it out in neutral, lmost all of the sound goes away. I wish I would have done that before I started videotaping!

Gas Gauge:
Works, ut there is usually less gas in the tank than you think when it gets down around empty. So, e careful when it gets down around empty or you'll run out of gas, ike I have a number of times over the years.

More Description/Information/Background:
This is a 1966, hevrolet, Ton, leetside, ong Bed, ickup Truck with a low mileage V8, 50 in it.
When the truck is running, he single exhaust system works well in keeping the truck quiet.
This truck has a lot of the older/classic features: rounded, ront fenders; wood bed; etc. The next year they changed the body looks quite a bit.
The Odometer says: 69,833, ut it could have 169,833 or 269,833 or ? miles on it?
This truck has been a smoke-free vehicle as long as I have owned it.
This truck has been in the family since, ugust 7, 982. I owned it from then to June 17, 985. At that point, sold it to my step father who gave it back to me in April of 1997. I have owned it ever since.
The truck went through a cosmetic restoration around the last half on 1999 (see photos).
This truck was a daily driver for me from about January, 000 through December of 2006. The reason I stopped driving it every day was because I bought a brand new, oadtrek that become my mobile office (bathroom, itchen, learwire, port router, rinter/fax/copier....) and I didn't hardly need the truck but to haul stuff in occasionally.
I've pretty much convinced myself that this truck goes about 10% faster than what is says on the speedometer and that it has gone about 10% further than what is said on the odometer. I'm thinking this may be due to the rims &/or tire size on the truck, ut not really sure.
Since the end of December in 2006, have seldomly driven this truck:

That is about 210 miles per year (for the past 8+ years) since
buying my other vehicle.
I mostly drove this truck back and forth to work every day from Renton Washington to Carnation Washington (~26 miles each way). Sometimes I used it to go out in the field to inspect progress on housing developments, r to do a downstream analysis (I was working in a Civil Engineering Firm as an Engineer in Training - but I did ~97% of my work from the office). Later I drove it to work every day from Renton to Seattle (~17 miles each way) to a Real Estate Company my brother and I owned. During this time, also used it to evaluate properties and to rehab a few properties which became our rentals.
The main thought I had about this truck was to make it functional and dependable. Looks were not the number one concern. I wanted everything to work and to work well. But I did want it to look nice too. I spent a lot of time to get the inside cab to be nearly air tight, ry and as quiet as possible.
Mirror:
The driver side mirror is of the ones used on large, ublic transit buses. I have one for the passenger side, ut it has never been installed. These mirrors are designed to be adjusted from inside the cab by controls (never installed), ut can be manually adjusted as well. They also have the feature that they can be heated (never setup). I have the other mirror, or the passenger side, long with the controls & harness (in the pictures and in the video linked to YouTube). I bought these mirrors because I like large mirrors and the fish eye portion on them too. I was going to bend the ¾" conduit so the mirror was exactly where I wanted it, nd then stabilize it. After that, was going to powder coat the metal black. I was thinking it would look really nice, nd would be great for driving, ulling trailers & backing up. Once I got the mirror on as it is, t has worked very well, ut I never finished the entire project. The base that the mirror goes into is a Chevy product; I have one for the passenger side too.

I have used this truck to pull an aluminum, 4' boat on a trailer with a 35 HP outboard motor. It pulled it like it wasn't even back there.
I've also used this truck to pull an approximately 14' Travel Trailer too. It pulled very well, lso, ut had a bit of a problem (just slow) going up very long, teep hills. The truck would slow down, ut not a super amount. But this was before I replaced the older engine with this bigger, tronger engine now in it. So I suppose, t would have pulled that travel trailer much better now (I got rid of the travel trailer before I got the new engine).
I drove this truck almost every day for 7 years (~2000 to the end of 2006).
My thought was that I was going to keep this truck for my entire life, o all that I did to it was with the thought of dependability, unctionality and longevity. Looks were important, ut not the number one thing. So it is a very solid, seful, unctional and dependable truck! With descent to nice looks.
I habitually took the time to do things in a detailed and thorough way.
I'm of the purest mindset so I did remove things that promoted Chevrolet (10 - Emblems, hevrolet - on glovebox, range gone on the hubcaps, tc.).
Most of the exterior of the truck was recently rubbed down with Meguiar's Cleaner * Wax. This brought back, nd out, lot of the luster and color from the last paint job.
Trailer hitch ball on the back bumper is a 1-7/8" or?

I'm excited to see the truck back into top condition again, nd hope that it ends up in the hands of a good owner who can enjoy it, se it, nd maybe even take it to the next level!

Seat:
This seat probably came out of a ? (not really sure) & was put in by my stepfather when he owned the truck.
The repair job on the two cracks on the driver's side was done by me, ecently, nd in house. I used black duct tape for the base under the cover and 3M Weathersripping Adhesive/glue for around the edges. It did improve things, ut I may do a bit more to it with black silicon.

Shocks:
Replaced with 2 new rear shocks, oad-Leveler-Gas charged stabilizing Unit with Coil Spring - MONROE -54567, 195 for all 4.
I may have had all 4 replaced, ears ago.

Starter:
Replaced ~January, 000

Differential:
Removed differential plate, rained oil, eplaced and filled with 80W90 - ~4/1999
Topped off again ~12/2006

Rear Axle:
~3/2005
New bearings and seals for rear axle

The spare has one of the older tires on it. The rim seems to be of a different year or?

I very recently took these off, anded them down with a palm sander and by hand with sand paper. I then spray painted them all with Kyron (?) flat white paint. They look so much better than they did. I thought about doing the rear bumper too (not hard to do), ut left that for the next owner.

This truck is very easy to work on:
I replaced the starter, lutch, uel pump, lternator & many other things myself. There is usually a lot of room to work on things, nlike the overly crowded and complexity of newer vehicles.

Very shortly after she was painted in 1999. The windshield went in after the paint job.

I replaced the badest parts of the boards with what you see. I was able to unscrew the carriage bolts @ the end & drive in those new boards that I taylored on a table saw. About an hour to get all setup, bout 3 hours of work and then about an hour to clean up. It made a big difference. I should of done it long ago.

This shows you the tailgate off. It goes on and stays on as long as you hook up both chains. I've never forgotten or had an issue.

You can hardly see these scratches and blemishes, ut wanted to point them out the best I could. There are others too, ut these & below, re some of the worst.

This cab rocks. Really. I love it.

I have a custom piece of wood, ncluded, hat sits over the latch on the glove box door above. I use to set my laptop on it and then hook up the antenna to the air card for internet access.

These side boards are very helpful and pop right on and off. They are included in the sale if you want them.

Kind of makes me feel sad & lonely looking at this picture. This truck, t times, ade me want to blow it up, ut eventually, t became such a great and dependable machine. I just needed a better, igger, n the road office (I bought a Roadtrek with a bathroom, itchen, ut in printers, port router, tc.) & I don't need a truck like this, xcept, aybe a couple of times a year.
