Description for Chevrolet Corvair 19610000
Up for auction at no reserve is this 1961 Chevrolet Corvair 500 2dr coupe project car. 80hp engine with 3 speed manual transmission. The car is not currently driveable. There are no brakes and the engine is not running.
I had the engine running about two years ago off of a auxilary fuel tank with an electric fuel pump. It should not take too much effort to get it going with a battery, ome cables and cleaning out the fuel supply and putting in a fuel pump. It comes with another fuel tank in pretty good shape and a rebuilt fuel pump. I have no idea what kind of shape the trany is in as I never drove the car. The dash wiring will need alittle work to get the key to work.
The brake shoes are off of the car at this time. I have relined shoes that come with the car along with self adjuster components off of a 1963. You can pretty much plan on giving it a brake job.
The body is actually fairly solid. The floors however are shot and will need replacement. Some damage and bondo in the left side quarter panel and rust through holes in left rocker and around the rear exhaust panel. The interior is out of the car so look at the pics to see the floor rust. The glass is all good but the windshield is not installed and needs a new seal which is available from Clark's Corvair. I was going to put bucket seats in the front instead of the original bench seat so I have some of the floor supports needed for adding the buckets...easy to do when replacing the floors. The seats shown in the pic are included.
The wheels are aluminum aftermarket 16"x8" with 215/r55-16 tires with about half tread. You will need to get some longer lug bolts if you end up running these rims (available from Dorman). These rims and tires are probably going to rub some but I think you can get away with them. I have some original 13" steel rims I can include if you want.
Again, his is a no reserve auction so bid to win and get a fun little project car for the upcoming winter. Car is sold as is, here is. Clean Wisconsin title in my name. Please look at the photos to see everything you'll be getting. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I can help load on my end. If you want to view the car, et me know to set something up. Need more photos...just ask. A $200 deposit is due when in 24 hours of the auctions end. No early sales...the auction will run to close.
Thanks for looking and contact me with any questions.
On Sep-06-15 at 15:33:11 PDT, eller added the following information:I have some new floor pans for this car, ll four. They are nice ones from Clark's Corvair. Not included with the car but are available to the winning bidder for an addtional $350. Good deal since they are over $450 from Clark's with shipping. On Sep-07-15 at 07:32:27 PDT, eller added the following information:Added some more photos...cowl tag, ngine date code, ody pics and more included parts. Pretty much all of the engine shrouds and air cleaner parts. Breather mounting brackets and retainers are not shown but are included. Trunk pan is really solid...see pic. Couple pics of front and rear valences showning rust. The rust through hole in the left rocker is about the size of a golf ball otherwise rockers are decent. Mileage shows 64088 which I believe is not turned over if it matters. Gonna see if I can get a battery in it and turning over...stay tuned! There is no radio. On Sep-07-15 at 09:04:43 PDT, eller added the following information:Put a battery in and have it turning over from the ignition switch...cranks good. Put a little gas down the carbs and it does fire. Will need steady fuel flow to run.
