Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1962

1962 Corvette for Sale 1962 Corvette Convertible for Sale Buy This Classic 1962 Corvette Convertible Numbers Matching 327ci Engine and Two Speed Automatic Transmission, ust 51k Original Miles!

This is a gorgeous 1962 Corvette Convertible for sale. This incredible example has been driven just 51,325 since new. It has averaged fewer than 300 miles per year for the past 26 years making this one a well-preserved original C1 Corvette for sale.

14,531 Corvette Convertibles were produced for 1962, nd just 1,532 had the optional Powerglide Automatic Transmission. The cost for the 313 code upgrade was more expensive than the manual transmission and fewer than 10% had the option. Other options on this car included a Signal Seek Radio, uxiliary Hartop and (narrow) Whitewalls. If rarety is your thing, his low mile automatic red over red exaple is a great find.

The car was repainted nearly 30 years ago and the paint and body work is holding up extremely well. The color is uniform with very good clarity through out. The color is Roman Red which is the original color for this car, nd the redesigned cove lip for 1962 meant there was not the option of ordering these cars with the cove painted to contract the body color. 1962 is also unique in that it is the first year for rocker trim, nd since this is the last year for this body style it the only year C1 to have the trim. Red over red is one of the most striking color combinations and this car was sold new with a red hard top as well as the standard issue white convertible top. The interior is in great shape as you would expect from a well-treated, ow mile car. Cosmetically this car is very nice. During the photo shoot when I asked to see  the spare tire the seller said he had never even laid eyes on it. Lifting up the original mat we were both amazed to find the original spare tire that looked as if it had never even been out of the car. The paint on the spare including where the lug nuts go still looks brand new. It goes without saying that finding such a low mile 1962 anything is rare. But the surprises that come with such a well cared for car are sure exciting.

This car starts, ccelerates, hifts and stops as it should. As most car enthusiasts know, ow mile cars often develop mechanical issues from non-use. So when the current owner purchased this classic Corvette he had the car completely sorted out mechanically. This is now a turnkey example that can be driven reliably. The car starts right up and the sound coming through the new duel mufflers is fantastic!

Here is a list of the mechanical items that were addressed recently:

  • Rebuilt Delco generator
  • New OEM voltage regulator
  • New Delco battery
  • New wiring harness from generator to ignition switch - from Corvette Central and it is exact original
  • New original equipment mufflers and tail pipes
  • Oil change using 20w50 Brad Penn (with zinc although zinc has been used as an additive at every oil change for the past 26 years), ew fuel filter, ir filter
  • New valve cover gaskets

The following work was just completed on the Corvette 8/25/2015:

  • Complete tune-up
  • New distributor
  • Out of the car transmission re-sealing and service

All of the exterior and interior electrical components work properly, nd the headlights have been upgraded from the outdated T3's to brighter units, hrough the original T3 bulbs are present and included in the sale. The radio has also been replaced though the original Wonder Bar radio is included with the sale.

This classic Corvette rides on Goodyear Regattas radial tires for better handling vs. the original bias ply tires. The radials are like new and show no wear. The car steers straight and true and braking is also quick and smooth.

This is one of the nicest C1 Corvette Convertibles I have seen. This car draws a crowd of any age or gender. Owning this well-preserved piece of Corvette history is not only a great investment but a fun one that friends, amily and bystanders alike can enjoy.
