Description for Chevrolet Caprice 1966
Original rust free desert car from Washington state. Beautiful piece from my small private collection of big block chevies. The car has had one paint job. When I bought the car it was original paint and interior and pretty well cooked from the desert sun in Washington. The body was stripped and refinished with base clear in the correct Artesian Turquoise that it was dressed in when new. I also replaced the entire interior in the reproduction Turquoise that it was born with. The original 396 engine was in the trunk and a replacement running engine was under the hood. I had the original engine professionally rebuilt and reinstalled under the hood where it belongs. The engine number reads as follows: TO310IVR 66L221221. The VIN number matches and reads 166476L221221. Unusual sequence number assigned by GM. It is a Los Angeles builtcar. The castingnumberof the engine is 3855967 and the date code is B256 (2/25/66) The heads are casting number 3872702 and thedate codes are C86and C96 (March 8th and 9th of 1966).The original Turbo 400 automatic transmission was also rebuilt at that time and I have all receipts for the work done. The car has the original issued keys and the owners manual is in the glove box. Even the spatter paint on the inside of the rear quarters is original. The original Silvertown spare tire is still in the trunk. Features and options are as follows:
396 / 325hp engine........Turbo 400 automatic hydramatic transmission........bucket seats........center console.........drivers and passengers door mirrors.........original AM-FM slide bar radio.......rear seat speaker........factory gauge package on console.........Comfortron thermostatically controlled air conditioning.........Tilt / Telescopic steering wheel........12 bolt rear end.......power steering.......power brakes.......bumper guards......Rally wheels with center caps and trim rings......Wheel opening moldings.......original jack in trunk.......there's probably more that I've missed.
The car runs and drives like new and has new tires and brakes all the way around. I would not hesitate to drive the car cross country. If I don't sell the car it will probably go on the power tour coming up next year. NOTE. This is not a show car, t is what I would call a high quality driver. There is wear showing on the original bumpers and bumper guards. There are a couple of small chips in the steering wheel and a couple of pimples on the radio. The floors and trunk, rame, irewall, tc are all rust free and original. Please email, ext, r call me at 772-201-1905 until 10pm eastern time. I may advertise locally and I will close the auction early if I get a good offer from an Ebayer or anyone that responds locally. All offers will be cheerfully considered no matter how ridiculous. It would be helpful if you have the money to back up your offer. If you have to ask your wife's permission please let me know so I can ask my wife's permission to sell. Thanks for looking at my auction and God Bless.
