Description for Chevrolet El Camino 1980

About 2 weeks ago. when my original ad was only 3 days old. I was contacted by 2049Prowlerhank. He said he was interested in buying the car and came to my house to look at it and test drive it. After spending a couple of hours with him. we agreed on a price and he said he would pay me in cash if I delivered it to his house in Verona. NJ. which is an hour and a half from mine. I agreed. He gave me his word and we shook on the deal. Being a man of my word. I trusted him and I deleted this ad. Waiting all this time. I had to hunt him down to find out what was going on. After listening to his sob story. he said he still wanted the car. but maybe we could do the deal in a couple of months. So much for giving someone your word. Hank. So because of Hank. I am relisting my Camino with another $91. 00 ad. I am telling you this so that you can learn from this experience. Now for the Camino. found this car locally for my son. It was to be his first car. Before he began driving. he expressed his desire to have a Jeep instead. I purchased the Camino from him and kept it garaged as it was by the previous original owner. When the original owner died. his wife had to put the Camino in her name to use it. The car sat for a while and when she decided to start using it. the transmission acted up. Giving the Camino to her friend to fix. he rebuilt the transmission and put a shift kit in it thinking he would end up with the car and would change the V-6 to a V-8. After the repair she wasn't pleased with what he did and put it up for sale like he planned. Unfortunately for him. I offered the woman a better price for the car "as is". So technically. I am the second owner of the car. I have driven the car like that since. It has a little harder of a shift from 1st to 2nd and that's it. I took the car and redid the entire suspension. Springs. bushings. all ball joints. tie rods. shocks in front and air shocks in the rear. I got a new class 3 hitch from a friend in case I wanted to pull a small trailer. I had the bed sprayed with an "Extreme Liner" which I thought was nicer than a Rhino Lining and am glad I did it. It has never had anything in the back since. so the lining is perfect. I tuned it and have maintained it meticulously since I have had it. I just noticed a slight smell of anti-freeze when it starts to warm up and replaced the leaky heater core that caused it. It does not go out in rain or snow and stays in a heated garage when not in use. It also does not leak when I wash it. I registered it as an antique and just toy with it. I am selling it to help with medical bills for my mother-in-law. The body is straight with no apparent signs of any serious body work. I think the car is all original except for the passenger door which looks like it was reshot. I took that door apart and could not see signs of any repair. so it was probably a scratch. The original vinyl roof is in excellent condition. however a small section of the threading down the center of the roof is starting to come apart. All of the chrome and trim is in very nice condition. It has a small surface rust spot behind the wheel on the lower passenger rear quarter. It also has a dime sized chip in the hood and a couple of scratches on the tailgate. There is no rot on the body at all. There is a light scratch on the drivers side windshield evidently from a damaged windshield wiper. You'll see from the pictures that there are snaps on the bed but I never received the cover. All of the chips and scratches are from the previous owner. The interior is real nice with a perfect headliner and sun visors (recently installed new). the dash is perfect the carpets are in nice shape and the seats are nice except a couple of tares on the driver's seat. The pictures show what behind the seat looks like. I have the carpeted insert that covers that area. The area houses a brand new spare. The car sits a lot. so the a/c needs a charge (I never use it) and the am/fm radio doesn't work. It looks like the engine compartment was coated with Ziebart which kept it from rusting or rotting. The V-6. carborated engine runs great and always starts right up. I live in New Jersey and would not hesitate to drive the Camino to California right now. The tires are great and are mounted on Camino rally wheels. I put Gabriel Hyjackers on the rear to regulate the rake of the Camino if I ever decided to haul anything. Never did though. It's comfortable. decent on gas and handles like a sports car. I get a lot of compliments on it wherever I go. Its really a nice car and I hate to see it go. I am a private seller and not an auto business so if I forgot anything. please do not hesitate to contact me with questions. I am requesting that the successful buyer make a $500. 00 PayPal deposit within 48 hours of the close of sale. I am also selling the car in "as is" condition. The successful buyer will also be responsible for the costs to ship the Camino within a reasonable time after the sale. I would be willing to store the Camino for a short time in my garage for buyer convenience. however. I would want to be compensated with a pre-agreed storage fee. Thanks for checking my Camino out and good luck bidding. On Nov-21-14 at 05:01:34 PST. seller added the following information:A few years ago. I was applying for antique insurance and in order to do it properly. I paid for a certified appraiser to come and evaluate my Camino. I received an appraisal which is included in this sale. along with the other paperwork I saved. for slightly over $6. 00. 00. I then obtained coverage for $6. 00. 00 to make sure I was completely covered. On Nov-22-14 at 17:59:56 PST. seller added the following information:I have been offered a trade on the Camino and had turn it down. I am selling my Camino to help pay medical bills for my mother-in- law.
