Description for Chevrolet Nova 1973
UNIQUE 1973 Nova Custom Hatchback (originally from California) - $15,000 AS IS.
MUSCLE CAR PROJECT ENTHUSIASTS - Everything you need is here! Just a good home and a little TLC required.
Why am I selling? Because, fter 32 years, am no longer able to provide the care this wonderful car needs, nd it deserves a better home.
Why "Unique"? Even though this 400hp engine can run extremely well on gasoline, t was, n fact, urpose-built from the ground up for PROPANE, aking it one of the very few ("green") environmentally friendly muscle cars on the planet. I ran this car smoothly on propane for over a decade with it's original 350 before deciding to upgrade it to a 383 Stroker. Great performer, nd the rumble from this new cammed-up motor is a head-turner (It cost me over $12,000, nd it's barely broken in). The original gasoline fuel lines remain intact, o converting back to gasoline would not be difficult.
It's also rare to find good examples of hatchbacks now. This one is in excellent condition with internally applied anti-rust treatment, long with brand new stainless steel hinge pins. Doors and hinges are well maintained. Body and frame are straight. It has never been in a major accident, nly a few small fender-benders that were easily repaired.Never been tracked or abused in any way. I have owned the car since 1983, nd for five yearsbefore that it belonged to my sister!I have every scrap of documentation, very receipt, nd even many photo-documents of practically every service and modification this car has undergone since 1983.
Description/Specifications:
- New 383 Stroker motor rated at 400 hp (has not yet been dyno'd) purpose-built for high performance propane.
- 10.25/1 compression. Keith Black hypereutectic pistons and 288 duration racing cam. Roller rockers and lifters, tc. Complete engine specs available upon request.
- Professionally Installed / Government inspected & certified propane system conversion. Custom installed dual tank delivery replaces conventional gas tank.
SAFER THAN GASOLINE (read up). Approximately 26 gallons to fill. I previously got about 250 miles when it was a 350 (approx. 11 - 12 mpg), ut this new motor hasn't been run enough to get a mileage estimate. REMEMBER! Propane costs less than gas (with no luxury tax for automobile usage), nd doesn't fluctuate nearly as much as gas, o it's an interesting cost savings.
NOTE: original gasoline fuel lines remain intact, o convertingback to gasoline would not be difficult.

- New 15" tires all around: 205/60 front and 225/60 rear. Rear wheel wells were professionally modified for clearance

Flaws/Damage:
Purely cosmetic...
- Tear in passenger side front seat upholstery.
- Carpet on front passenger side has recent water leak and mold damage. Happened during storage. Cause uncertain. Fortunately, arpet is easy and cheap to replace.
- Headliner is showing some signs of storage moisture damage. Leaves dimples when touched. Not sure of repair/replacement cost.
- 16 year old paint job still looks good butshowing signs of wear and separation in spots.
NOTE: Recently underwent body and paint work to completely remove and replace (with fresh metal) the bottom third of one door. Millen Autobody in Redmond has been my shop of choice for all body and paint work over the past decade, nd they have always done top-notch work and matched the paint beautifully. Feel free to contact owner Neil Millen there for a "second opinion" about this car.
Most of this car is 42 years old, nd as such, ne can expect some "personality" quirks and oddities, ut nothing serious I haven't disclosed. Fortunately, bout three quarters of this car can be rebuilt from the ground up with factory and after-market parts from numerous sources. "Classic Industries" for example carries almost everything you need to build an entirely new Nova.
