Description for Chevrolet Camaro 1968
Have you ever seen a guy cruising down the street in a first gen Camaro convertible and thought, an I wish I was that guy? Well this may be your chance. From the brilliant red paint to the fresh interior, t's cosmetically in great shape, nd thanks to a bulletproof drivetrain including a matching-numbers 327, ou can have a lot of worry-free fun with it.There's nothing better than a red Camaro, nd this '68 wears a coat of code R Matador Red on its charismatic flanks, hich is a big upgrade from its original code Y Butternut Yellow. The most popular color that year, t's easy to see why it was so beloved and why they chose to upgrade it during the restoration. But the downside is that there's just no way to keep a low profile in this rumbling piece of GM muscle. Fit and finish are fantastic, ith good gaps and a cowl induction hood that looks right, specially with the RS hidden headlights. They opted out of adding stripes, lthough there's a Z/28 style chin spoiler and with a ducktail spoiler out back, t looks incredibly fast just sitting still. Chrome items like the bumpers, tainless rocker trim, nd the windshield surround all remain in excellent condition and it's properly badged as an RS.The interior has recently enjoyed a host of upgrades, ncluding fresh white seat covers and door panels, ew black carpets, nd a brand new center console. It carries the optional gauge package, hich includes a tachometer and the auxiliary gauges down on the center console, ll of which most early Camaro owners feel are mandatory upgrades. The center console is home to a proper 4-speed Hurst shifter, omplete with cue ball knob, big step up from the original PowerGlide. There's also an AM/FM/cassette radio, color-matched steering wheel, nd rubber floor mats that will help keep those new carpets looking fresh. A clean white convertible top fits neatly and offers a crystal clear rear window and a matching white boot. The trunk is fitted with what might be the original mat, hich shows some age but is in otherwise good condition.Under the hood you'll find the original, umbers-matching 327 cubic inch V8, great runner that's truly worthy of powering a bright red Camaro ragtop. Nicely detailed, t offers Chevy Orange paint, n open-element air cleaner, nd lots of new equipment clamps. Experts will note the inner fenders and firewall are now bright red, iving it a highly detailed look under the hood that's a bit more exciting than the usual satin black. As I mentioned, he transmission was upgraded to a 4-speed Muncie, nd a 10-bolt rear end can handle all the abuse you can dish out. Clean floors have been painted to match the bodywork and it still carries the original reinforcing braces that most Camaros lost decades ago. There's also a new stock-style dual exhaust system with transverse muffler and 15-inch Rally wheels which wear slightly oversized 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. There's something special about a red Camaro convertible with a manual gearbox, nd while we sell a lot of early F-bodies, ot many combine this car's great condition, trong performance, nd reasonable price.
