1986 El Camino 305
Selling one of my daily drivers. I say that lightly because I drive it maybe 3-4 times a week.
I hate to sell it, or wouldnt but we are converting our garage for other usage.
PS/PB (disk front/drum rear)
New rear drums and brakes (done 8 months ago ago)
Front rotors are good, nd pads are good. (recently inspected) rotors seem to have been replaced at some point in it's life.
These parts are new and were just installed about 3 months ago - Edelbrock Perfomer Intake Manifold, delbrock 600 carb, delebrock Pro-Flo air cleaner, ew thermostat, ibbed valve covers, an clutch other misc I can't think of right now.
Cleaned up the engine bay a bit.
10 bolt rear end
This car originally has idiot gauges so I added an oil and temp gauge. (done about a year ago)
Electrical is all good, verything works as it should. no issues.

BFG Radial T/A tires (tires are good at least 85%)
New MSD Ignition (3 months ago)
Newer battery (Less than 1 year old)

60/40 split Seats - New vinyl seat covers (These took 3 months to make - took forever to find someone that even makes them)
New Seat belts
New carpet
New smugglers cover
New head liner
Visors were done in matte leather
Doors were done in a matte leather
All done up in your favorite color (Black)
Dynamat installed in floors, oors, oof. Interior is quiet (all done about 1 year ago)
The interior is the biggest pain in the rear if doing it yourself, nd expensive if you have someone else do it. Unless you happen to like the beat up old wine, qua or tan velour interiors these G Body's came with!
Glass is in good shape.
Newly tinted windows (the curved rear window alone cost $$$ all done about 1 year ago)
New door seals all the way around (done about 8 months ago)

New AC. Factory AC was converted to r134a recently. Blows nice n' cold. (done about 10 months ago)
New Suspension: Hotchkis Extreme kit
Hotchkis Springs, ox tuned shocks, xtreme front and rear sway bars, Heavy Duty Tie Rod Sleeves, djustable Rear Trailing Arm Package etc.

Paint is petty good. It was painted a few years ago factory color prior to me acquiring it so I'm not sure how old the paint is. I was considering having it painted but it looked so good that it really just didn't make sense to dump money into that when it has a nice cream color and the pin striping looks great against it. I'm glad I didn't throw money away doing re-painting it. The passenger rear quarter panel near the signal light has some rust, ut not eaten through. I bought it like this. There isn't any other rust that I can see other than that small amount in the rear lower quarter panel, ut it's not eaten through by any means. Unless you look you'd never even notice it. And it's been stable ever since, ou have to get up close to see it. I was going to sand it down and repaint it but figured it really didnt need it right now so didnt bother. Around the windows and rockers are good so this was probably been garaged a good portion of it's life. There are a few small nicks in the paint here n' there, ut nothing too bad. The bed has some dents n' dings but nothing that I would say is beyond terrible. A good car if you need to look cool while hauling a load of wood, t serves 2 purposes looks great and hauls great. I havent touched the paint on this car since ive owned it. It looks pretty good the way it is. (I have the spec color and will include a can of touch up paint) No major dings in the car at all. I tried to get a couple of good pictures looking down the side of the car and the enire car pretty much looks like this. The body is straight. I get comlipments on the car everywhere.
The legendary local Mitch Kim who's been around since the 70's did the custom pin striping on it - Looks killer. The colors are black and gray stripes.
I painted the front grill and light bezels flat black, ooks so much nicer than the silver it originally was. It offsets and contrasts the cream color of the car and pin striping nicely.
Includes a brand new never been installed lower front spoiler that I never got around to installing. I was going paint it flat black like I did the grill. (The spoiler is already a matte black, ou can leave it as is as well)
Since I've owned this car, t has been garaged.
Pioneer Blue Tooth stereo, ew Pioneer dash speakers, way rear box speakers. Sounds nice. Set it up make/receive calls. The mic is tucked in the upper left corner near the visor so its hidden out of the way.
Cruise control not working becuase it needs new switch installed. I have it, ust havent needed it, or had time to do it yet. (will include though)
The trim is OK, ost of it is decent, nd some dents in it mostly in the passenger rear not too bad looking and it's all there and did I mention daily driver?
Not a show car, ut if you wanted it to be it's not going to take you forever to make it one.
As a nice looking daily driver / utility vehicle, put the money into where I felt like it was needed most. The engine and tranny were strong, o there was no need to get too crazy with the engine. I don't fix stuff thats not broken.
The new Edelbrock intake/carb/MSD distributor provided the extra umph that I wanted though.
Will include (replace) the shifter knob with a nice billet shifter knob that I had in it previously (sorry, ut my kids want me to keep the skull shifter for another car down the road)
Includes a set of the original GM Keys (and copies)
I'm probably missing a couple of things, ut this is the gist of it.
I drove this to the Bay Area and back this summer in hot weather with no issues and it always maintained a constant temperature (runs at 190 which is good for this car and never went up higher than that, nd this was with the AC on while driving a consistent 75-85mph. Oil pressure is consistent as well around 30 or so. The engine is strong.
I wanted a bit more 'umph' out of the car, o on the suggestion of an old Chevy hotrod guy I know that builds cars he suggested to get rid of the stock carb/intake/distributor etc. so I did and it made a huge improvement in performance. I wasn't trying to build a race car (my small kids ride in it) and since this is one of my daily drivers I did what I felt was best given my type of driving, nd not fixing anything that really didn't need to be 'fixed'.
I have all of the original engine parts that were removed/replaced and will include them if you want them.
The stock suspension on these cars are terrible and by far the Hotchkis kit was the best improvement overall which is what I did first and what a MAJOR improvement it was! The Hotchkiss kit was about $2K alone for parts.
This is a fun car to drive now and you can haul up to 1000 Lbs. in it as well with the Air Lift bags. Also, aving little to no body roll is nice. It hugs corners like you wouldn't beleive.
Clean title, nd tags good till April 2017.
If you are looking for an El Camino, uck for buck I don't think you'll find a nicer one that that is moderately priced that doesnt need work to make it a nice driving and handling car. You can drive this now anywhere, t runs great and looks great.
I am not the original owner (car is 30 years old) so I know as much about this car for as long as Ive owned it, nd probably then some, o please feel free to ask questions before you buy/bid!
