1935 Chevy Standard

1935 was an interesting year. The U.S. economy was almost five years out of the great stock market crash of '29. General Motors, ord and Chrysler were on a comeback and the Chevrolet overhead valve six cylinder engine was still very competitive in the market place. The most popular car in the Chevrolet line up was the 1935 Chevy Standard coach that obviously was a great value at $485. It had 17-inch wheels with the now new larger 7-¾ inch hubcap. The hood was hinged longitudally with louvers on the side for ventilation on hot days and the standard model had a windshield wiper suspended from the top of the windshield. Running boards were rubber covered and all standard models had a rear mounted spare. The interior came with a standard rear window shade.

The engine displacement is at 206 c.i. 75 h.p. and lots of torque at 150 ft. lbs.

The 1935 Chevys were noted for its "beefy construction"with the new X-member frame construction. 75% more rivets used in the car. Brakes on a 1935 Chevy were considered extremely powerful for the day and 1935 did have increased braking efficiency with a much lighter pedal pressure.

Here at MissChiTown we absolutely love the design of the 1935 Chevy with its full fenders and suicide doors. This particular car has a colorful paint combination and is ready to be taken to a show or on a tour.

The private seller has owned this car for over 15 years so you know that it is not some car that was bought for a quick turnover.

The tan and black paint again really show off the design of this car!

The reupholstered mohair interior is very similar to the factory original.

The running board rubber has been replaced along with many of the rubber seals in the car.

The car is still running at its six-volt system and starts and runs, s you would expect.

The current owner has taken this car on trips up to 150 miles.

The odometer is showing a tad over 65,022 miles and the owner believes that to be the original miles but he has no paperwork on this mileage.

The car received a new battery in 2015.

The car also comes with owner's manual, ngineering, nd Fisher Body 1935 repair manuals.

The private owner has a clear title in his name.

The car is currently insured and driven.

If you are looking for a great collector vehicle at a relatively small investment in the collector world and that can seat four people very comfortably.

It has the original Mohair type material and not some funky modern day material with a wonderful color scheme — this could be the car for you!

Here at MissChiTown we have always been admirers of the Chevrolet overhead valve six-cylinder that was used by General Motors in the Chevrolet Division for well over 30 years. We believe that in itself speaks well of the popularity of this engine. The owner states that two things that he would mention as needing attention is the one window crank slips and one door latch handle does not always engage to open the door. Other then that he feels that this car is an excellent tour car and needs no apologies!

In closing if you want the Chevrolet's version of the "Bonnie & Clyde"four-door sedan with lots of "pop"to the color scheme, wonderful mohair interior, fantastic tour and excellent show car. This is truly a handsome General Motors design. If you think this might like great in your garage we don't think you will find one with more personality!
