Description for Chevrolet Nova 1972
For sale is my 1972 Chevy Nova. This is my personal car. Please read entire ad, s I like to be as descriptive as possible to assist potential buyers.
I am the second owner and have owned since 2010. The original owner had the car for 38 years and it was well cared for. Car is originally from Ohio and was purchased at Ben Lupe Chevrolet in Avon Lake, H, ut was only here for a couple of years before spending most of the 70's and 80's in Arizona, ew Mexico, nd Florida. From 1988-2010, he car was garaged in New York. Car was a daily driver for 20 years, hrough 1992, hen only used on nice weather days after that.
Engine/Drivetrain: Engine is a mostly stock 350. Engine is not original to the car, ut is the period correct CKA suffix 1972 engine that belongs in the car. It came from a '72 Chevelle Malibu. Original owner upgraded to Petronix electronic ignition, o no more points. Transmission is the original 3-speed Saginaw. Rear-end is the original 3.08 10-bolt posi-traction. Engine runs very well. After sitting a while, t will smoke a little on start-up, o could use valve seals. Carb is the original 2-barrel Rochester and works great. Fast idle works as it should on a cold start up. Air cleaner is also original to the car. Transmission shifts great. Shifter is original and works great. Even the reverse lock-out feature is still intact (need to have shifter in reverse to remove the key from ignition). Clutch is newer.
Body/Paint/Floors: Besides half quarters and the passenger side fender, ll metal on this car is original. Car had that bodywork done and was repainted (base coat / clear coat) in its original Golden Brown color (Code 57) back in 1992. Car had a black vinyl top when new, ut the southwestern sun took its toll on it. Original owner opted to have the roof painted to match the interior color. Paint is driver quality / looks great from 10 feet away but up close you can see some blemishes, tone chips, nd miniscule bubbling at bottoms of doors. Trunk pan is original and rock solid. Floors are solid. There is a section about the size of a deck of cards, n the driver's side floor that could use some attention. Car was Ziebarted / undercoated when it was new, ence the solid, riginal condition of the underside.
Interior: Color is called Light Covert (Code 765). Seats were recovered around the same time the car was painted. Material is not stock material, ut nicely done. There is one rip on the back of the driver's seat, oticeable more when seat is folded over. Dash is original and has no cracks. Steering wheel is original and has cracks on the backside. Rest of interior is mostly original (besides AM/FM stereo, peakers, nd shift knob) and has normal wear and tear for its age. I thought about removing the interior panels and re-dying to make like new, ut, hey are only original once and still look nice. Car did not come with carpet, ust the rubber floor. There are a couple of cracks/splits in the original material. Usual rust where dash panel meets windshield, ore noticeable on passenger side.
New parts: Since 2010: 2010 U-joints, inion seals, 011 front wheel bearings, 013 water pump, 014 clutch and radiator fan, 015 alternator, ower ball joints, ront alignment, nd heater core.
Other: I have the original invoice, rotect-o-plate, anual, ictures from Day 1, nd lots of other paperwork and receipts. Car has almost 268,000 miles. It was daily driven until it was re-painted in 1992. I have a log that shows the original engine at 185,000 miles in 1988. Car was ordered with power steering and power disc brakes (front). A/C was added in 1984 and I have the receipt. It was converted to R134 and it blows cold and works great. Everything on the car works as it should except the door buzzer, s original owner intentionally disconnected it.
Car could use new window felts. Also, ne of the two trunk lid supports is missing and I haven't found a replacement. Trunk opens and closes fine. Lid will stay up, ut is a bit heavy when you go to close it.
When I purchased the Nova, flew up to New York one morning and drove the car nine hours home to Ohio. You can drive this car anywhere. Get in, urn the key, nd cruise.
Misc: I have described this car to the best of my knowledge. If you want a reasonably priced, ependable and great cruising Nova, ith some original patina, nd has never been hacked up or taken apart, his is a great car. I'm selling to free up garage space for future projects. My feedback on ebay is perfect and I intend to keep it that way. I want the new owner to be happy with the purchase and enjoy this Nova as much as I have.
If you have questions or want additional pictures (I have plenty), ontract me through ebay. My camera isn't the best quality, o I have pictures in the sun and out of the sun.
