Description for Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1984
Up for Auction is a very original sunny southern California native 1984 Monte Carlo SS. This 3 Owner car has been well cared for, s unmolested and just a good honest car. The odometer shows 104,000 miles but the 2nd owner (owned the car from 1986 to 2014) indicated the speedometer was replaced as the original broke and the car has closer to 85,000. I cannot confirm that but felt it important to pass on.
The paint and body on the Monte Carlo are very nice – AND ZERO RUST. The car has had one repaint and the job was nicely done. There are minor flaws as the car is driven but nice nonetheless. The finish does have minor scratches and chips but nothing major. Most notably are some chips on the front bumper nose where the decal was replaced and while removing the old some of the paint pulled off with the decal. The paint is not trailer queen quality but every bit as nice as stock and as nice as what you would see at your local car shows. The doors, ood and truck lid all fit and close nicely showing no signs of repair or accidents.
The interior is VERY nice! New carpet, eats reupholstered, ice headliner and very nice door panels and interior trim. The only real flaw in the interior is the dash is cracked and a cap has been installed. Also, ne of the windshield pillar post covers is deteriorated on the windshield side (from the sun). As mentioned, he seats and carpet are new. I do not believe the insignia was done correctly on the headrests but it was done nicely and looks great!
The Monte Carlo runs and drives great – And everything from the air conditioning to the cruise control works! It is a joy to drive down the highway with the A/C and cruise control on and the stereo playing a little Bob Seger – makes for a very relaxing day and takes you back to those glory days when the car was new! The things that need attention are as follows, 1) Tach seems to read high. I just replaced the sensor in the distributor but it seems to be reading high again (2) slight drip from the transmission if the car sits for long periods of time (3) Every so often the car will hesitate from a start – I think it just needs to be driven as it has had limited use for several years. (4) right blinker works intermittently. It seems there may be a loose wire in the tilt assembly because if I drop the wheel down to its lowest position it (the blinker) will work all the time. As I said at the start, his is a nice running and driving Monte Carlo that has some very minor issues that are easily fixed.
With the exception of the stereo and perhaps the insignia on the headrests, he Monte Carlo is 100% stock. It has not been molested or “Kidded” in any way. The car was driven most of its life by the 2nd owners wife and has seen limited use by me! The original manuals accompany the car as well as spare and jack equipment!
It is almost impossible to find these Monte Carlo Super Sports unmolested and original. To find an unmolested, riginal, ow mileage Southern California car with known history is almost unheard of. If you have been searching for a Monte Carlo SS to drive, njoy and tinker with don’t let this one pass you by!
