Description for Chevrolet Impala 1964
The 1964 Impala is just as iconic today as it was when it was new. As a testament to their enduring popularity, ust watch any music video or check out the garage of a pro athlete's home-they're all rolling in vintage Impalas just like this lovely Silver Metallic hardtop. Sporting a strong-running 327, utomatic transmission, nd an older repaint that looks fantastic, t's next summer's best bet for stylish cruising.Yes, his is a real code 18 Impala sport coupe, nd its rarity doesn't come from low production numbers, ut rather from the fact that it isn't a fake SS. Instead, t's a clean, uthentic, ell-finished Impala with 100% of its factory sheetmetal and a clean bill of health, hanks to living in a warm climate most of its life. The paint was done several years ago, nd the icy silver paint works rather well on the stylish Imp's bodywork adding a modern touch that accentuates the straight lines. There's absolutely no evidence that this car has ever been damaged, nd the body fits together well, ith good gaps, eat trim alignment, nd a solid feeling going down the road. All the chrome and stainless trim sparkles and even the side trim is remarkably devoid of parking lot dings. Despite the resto-mod first impression, his Impala has a very authentic look and feel once you get up close and personal.Inside, he original-style black cloth and vinyl interior remains in exceptionally good condition. Refreshed at some point, t's a nice blend of original styling and some more up-to-date materials that are more inviting than the originals, ithout being obvious. Both front and rear seats are in excellent condition, nd even the driver's area shows very little wear. Recent carpets are the correct color and weave, nd the door panels are neat custom pieces that blend right in. A floor shifter was added to replace the original column shift and there's a tachometer strapped to the steering column to make it look suitably racy. There's no radio, ut that means that you can install the system of your choice just in time to go cruising and the cavernous trunk is neatly finished with no signs of major rust issues or past damage. There's a 327 cubic inch V8 under the hood, hich was a step up from the basic 283. Nicely preserved and obviously well maintained, t runs like a small block Chevy should, ith easy road manners and an awesome V8 soundtrack. It's also nicely detailed, ith chrome valve covers, n n Edelbrock air cleaner, nd a matching 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold with an Endura-shine finish. A newer dual reservoir master cylinder and brake booster power a set of front disc brakes and the power steering has been upgraded as well. A big aluminum radiator keeps things nice and cool and there's a fresh alternator in place of the factory generator. The automatic transmission shifts well and feeds the original rear end, nd while you're under there, lease note that the original floors, rame, nd other components are in good order. There's also a new Flowmaster dual exhaust system and it looks positively awesome sitting on those big 17-inch Torque thrusts with low-profile performance radials. This Impala is a timeless resto-mod that's also wonderful to drive.
