Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1988
In 1988, he Corvette was still the king of American performance, nd in roadster form it was the best example of General Motors' engineering might. Full of technology and with performance that could humble the best Europe had to offer, t is part of the foundation that gave us today's amazing C7. This one shows just 56,345 original miles, nd hails from a warm climate, o you know it's as clean as they come underneath. You could be forgiven for thinking that all early C4 Corvettes were red, ut yes, t's true, here were other colors available. Anonymously called "Yellow" the finish is nonetheless a Corvette tradition as much as red might be, nd with only 578 painted that color in 1988, ou're not likely to see another one. It's in great condition, oo, nd still looks great almost 25 years later thanks to the Bowling Green assembly plant's well-known quality standards and excellent care since it was new. There are a few signs of use here and there, s you'd expect from a car built to be enjoyed, ut it's pretty obvious that this one has always been someone's fair-weather flyer and not a daily driver (although it's certainly capable). If you like your Corvettes perfectly imperfect, his is an ideal example, specially for preservation class judging, nd we have to admit that a yellow Corvette attracts plenty of attention here in the showroom. The bronze cloth and leather interior is as futuristic as 1988 could make it, ith digital gauges, trip computer, nd enough buttons to command the space shuttle. To be honest, he cloth interior is fairly rare, articularly in a convertible, aking this a very low production ragtop that many folks have never seen before. Both seats are in excellent condition and are every bit as comfortable as they look once you master the unique step-in procedure the C4 requires. A/C, powerful AM/FM/cassette stereo, ower windows and locks, ruise control, s well as a tilt wheel were all part of the package, aking the Corvette a true grand touring car. And with so few miles on the clock, verything is in above-average condition and shows extremely well, ven high-traffic areas like the door sills and outer bolsters on the seats. Even the original black canvas top, hich stows invisibly under the flush-fitting deck lid, s still in very good condition and remains completely usable. The L98 350 cubic inch V8 remained at 230 horsepower, ith was the biggest number available in an American V8 (remember, his was 1988 after all). Where it really excels, owever, s torque production, nd with the 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive (known as the 4+3), his car simply carves through traffic and is an incredible point-and-shoot machine. The engine bay is quite clean, ith the familiar L98 long-tube induction system, nd unlike so many of its siblings, t has not been modified or abused. It's in excellent shape and history has proven that it's virtually indestructible no matter how hard you drive it. Underneath, his one is ultra clean, ith evidence of its desert history apparent everywhere you look. 1988 was the first year for polished 17-inch wheels, hich now wear BFGoodrich T/A radials.Get your piece of fiberglass history for less than the price of a used Honda. The performance is still impressive and there's nothing like a Corvette roadster. Call today!
