Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1967
This auction is for an L88 engine that was professionally built by Gary Grimes at Grimes Machine shop. This motor was in one of the original L88 cars #194677s115484 back in the early 70's as verified by Rob Robinson (the owner of the car) but he said that he did not think it was the original stamping because he would not have sold it to me 25 years ago when he sold the car to Otis Chandler back in the 80's. This engine has the very rare original parts. and a lot of them came from Rob Robertson. Example; Intake manifold with 2 sets of numbers with the divider built into the throat of manifold. and to the best of my knowledge only 20 were built to go on the L88 cars. Correct L88 distributor with deleted vacuum advance. Correct number carb with correct date. rare original paint down draft tube. correct valve cover breather. rare thermostat housing. water pump. fan and clutch . bell housing and much more. Gary who built many of these motors in the day. built it to factory specs. Although the motor has not been start yet. if the purchaser would pay an additional $1600. 00 he would dyno the engine to prove it's validity. In talking with a couple of guys from Bloomington they say the stamping is not original. My engine builder feels as if it is the original because the deck had not been surfaced and still has the imprint of the old head gasket. Either way it is a cool motor that I am selling at a reasonable price with a low reserve. BY THE NUMBERS; block cast date c217. nbsp; new L88 rods and pins. nbsp; pistons special #3539. nbsp; Compression 12. 5 to 1. nbsp; camshaft 03925535. nbsp; lifters #11010. nbsp; pushrods #815201 and 815200. nbsp; cyl heads #3904392 and #3904392. nbsp; rockers and studs new GM. nbsp; 16 new stainless valves. nbsp; springs # 3897428. nbsp; seats 19370. hi vol oil pump. nbsp;nos exhaust manifolds 3880828 and 3880827. nbsp; Intake manifold rare rare with two sets of numbers #3885069 and 3886093 with divider under carb. nbsp; carb list 3418 7-23. nbsp; dist #1111240 with brown cap. nbsp; water pump #3858284. nbsp; 1 14 7. nbsp; new L88 balancer. nbsp; correct clutch fan and fan. nbsp; L88 air filter assy.
