Originally sold new in Chanute, Kansas at Larry Miller Chevrolet (Larry Miller Chevrolet Dealer Emblem still on rear bumper)The Corvette has spent its entire life in Kansas and just recently in southern Missouri.
VIN # 1Z37L7S443367This was the 43,367th Corvette built in 1977 out of 49,213 total built. Late production car built on Monday July 18th, 1977. Please note that this 77 model, due to being a latebuild car, you will not see the alarm system key hole on driver's side fender as this was moved to the drivers door lock itself. This was done in later 77 production.
Equipped with desirable options which include:L-48 350 C.I. This luggage rack has special brackets and a strap that fit onto the rack allowing the t-top roof panels to be strapped on and you can drive the vehicle like this. Seldom seem. This luggage rack on this particular car is an NOS one that was still in the GM box which I still have the box if wanted.Paint Code 72L Medium RedInterior Code722 Red Leather Buckets
The tires on this car are newer ones as the originals were not fit to drive on. These are BF/Goodrich Radial TA's size P225/70R15. The car has also been all serviced including oil and filter, anti-freeze, transmission fluids, and rear end grease. Everything on the car is operable and was driven about 100 miles recently. Even the cruise control still operates. Everything on this car is nice and tight. Drives like a 9,000 mile car should as most will not. I did have the original alternator rebuilt and installed. The steering box on the car had a small leak so it was removed and new seals installed. The carburetor has been cleaned and the car runs smoothly. Plenty of power as well. I do have many receipts in a portfolio of service history and other routine maintenance that has been done to the car over the years. The brake fluid have also been flushed recently.
As far as documentation to the car I have several things. First off there is plenty of title history to the car dating back to when the car was new. The original owner supposedly had passed and the car was kept in the family for many years. I do have a copy of one title dated in09/11/78 and the car then only had 565 miles. There is also a detailed list of the previous ownersand some with addresses. It appears from what I was told and the information that I have that the car has had about three to four owners since new. I also have a copy of the original dealer invoice, window sticker, original owners manual and sales brochure, assembly manual, shop manual, title history, receipts, information pertaining to the 1977 model Corvette, t-top storage bags in red, original jack and lug wrench, original Firestone 500 Spare Tire and Wheel, Original Spare Tire Lock, all shown in the photos. Nicely documented car and the previous owner is available to talk with as he was very knowledgeable about this car. The previous owner bought the car in September of 2013 and the car had only 7,665 miles at that time. I also have an (InStaVIN Check) which is like a Carfax for older vehicles. This car shows a clean history with no reported issues.
The overall condition of this Corvette is excellent. This is a true example of a nice original unrestored survivor car that has been well kept. The paint shines well and shows very good. With that said you do have to realize that is car is almost 39 years old and the paint process back then was not like that of today. There was no clear coats. This paint is the original lacquer type which needs to be waxed and polished to keep the luster that it has. You can see a few factory flaws, which should be expected of a survivor car. This car does not need paint nor the bumpers replaced as most survivors do. The bumpers are the original urethane ones and have plently of flex and no stress cracks that I am aware of. The hood and doors fit nicely as well as the t-top roof panels. The window trim and emblems all look fresh. The window glass is original date coded with no cracks. Nice clear visibility as well. The decals and labels are still on the inside driver's side door. I will say that this corvette has much better paint on the door jambs than many others that I have seen. The weatherstriping is original and in amazing condition.
The interior of this Corvette is about as good as it gets. And its original!! The leather seats are nice with no cracking or fading. The dash assembly has no cracks. The carpeting is excellent with no stains or spots. The floor mats are about the only thing that is new. The seat belts are original with the nice red color and the chrome at the ends is excellent as well. The leather steering wheel has not collapsed. Nice finish on the leather. The console and center gauge cluster is just like new. Non-Smoker Vehicle. The instruments all work and look nice and fresh with no dust behind the lenses. The rear storage compartment behind the seats is not all busted up as this was a weak item on these model Corvettes mostly due to people putting heavy luggage or simply throwing things in the back. The red strap is also there. Just a nice example of what a 77 model should represent.
The engine compartment has not been detailed. The paint is still clearly visible on the intake manifold, valve covers, water pump, etc. Even a yellow inspection mark on top of the water pump can be seen. Original air cleaner assembly. The underhood insulation was replaced and the master cylinder cap. There is no corrosion on the hood latches, wiper motor, all of the hardware and bolts still look fresh. A good example of the climate this car has been in and the way it was stored all of these years. I have seen many original examples with so much corrosion and rust that everything would need to be restored. Not this car. Even the vacuum tanks for the headlights still have the nice gold cad finish on them and all vacuum hoses are not rotted and still have the markings on them.
The chassis has never been undercoated. You can still see some of the original markings. Most of the exhaust system is original. The only non-original thing on the exhaust is that at sometime in the cars life the original catalytic converter was removed and simply a test pipe installed that bolted right in. The frame is nice and solid with no pitting or rust. The underbodyis nice with evidence of the factory red overspray. The gas tank is not rusted and when you see the inside of the fender wells you can see the factory bonding strips and paint that was done at the factory. The oil pan looks good and no alterations have been done other than the catalytic converter. The spare tire compartment is not busted up and clean. The bolts and hardware have manyof the original markings on them Great candidate for BloomingtonGold Survivor Award. Once you see the car underneath you can tell the car was not driven in inclimate weather. I plan on getting a few chassis shots and can send them if desired.
