Description for Chevrolet Chevelle 1968
I am selling my 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu with 39k Miles. If you are looking for a bone stocksurvivor to enjoy as a weekend cruiser or looking for the perfect car to create your ownpro-touringresto-mod or ultimate sleeper you may want to consider this one. When I originally bought it I considered the possibilities but ultimately decided to keep it just the way I found it, it is that nice. The original documentation shows the car was purchased new in Stone Mountain,Georgia. I bought the car from a gentleman located in Kentucky who believed he bought it from the original owners grandson. I have the originalbill of sale andmiscellaneous documentation thatgoes along with the car. The car has an all matching numbers drivetrain which includes a 307 C.I. V8 with a 2 Speed Powerglide automatic transmission on the column. It has a 10 boltrearend and 4 wheel manual drum brakes. It does have powersteering that drives straight andsmooth, the AC works as it did back in 1968. The paint is the original Grotto Blue, I am not a paint and body guy but I have had several people that are inform me that it is the original lacquer paint. I want to be clear on this, the paint is 48 years old and has lost much of its shine. I considered having it buffed to bring it back as much as possible but I am okay with it as it is original and that is part of the car's character. There is absolutely no rust or dents but there are a few scrapes and scratches. Thebody panels are straight and the gaps are aligned nearly perfect. IF you choose to paint it, it would require the absolute minimum of prep work. The car idles smoothly and runs great, Iwouldn't hesitate to take it on a long road trip. The few things that I know that have been changed or replaced over the years are the radio, it now has a mid 80'scassette player that works and thankfully nothing on the dash was altered or cut The interior has been recovered at some point in a blue velvet, cloth material. If I was to have done it Iwould not have chose this but it is personal preference and do not see the need to replace it as it is comfortable and no rips or tears. I was told it was changed because the originalinterior was vinyl and it was not uncommon to do that in that specific area of the country. The fuel tank wasreplaced and it now has dual exhaust, my understanding is 307 engines always had factory single exhaust. Something I thought that ws interesting is the original jack still has a plastic netting over it, I didn't think anything of it but a guy at a local Fridaynight get together was awfully excited and said it wasoriginal from the factory andhasn't seen that in decades. I cannot verify that the miles are original but when you see the enginecompartment and the undercarriage I believe you be reassured. As much as I like the originality of theexterior, the engine bay and underneath is what truly sold the car. It is next to perfect. I realize there is alwaysdiscretion when it comes the details of any car but not in this case. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND UNDERCARRIAGE ARE IN EXCELLENT / NEAR MINT CONDITION. Like I said its a great example of a stock, great runningoriginal car that is very very nice but not a frame off restored car. If you are looking for a pro-street car to bring to the drag strip or road course we can agree that this car may not be for you. I do not see the need to point out all the things you would do if you owned the car and email me a ridiculously low offer. I prefer tosell it to someone who appreciates it but cannotstress enough that I DONOT need to sell it. The reserve is more than fair as I to shake my head when I see what guys are asking for junk! Feel free to email any questions you might have and I will respond asap. Keep in mind, I most likely will be at one of my kids baseball games or the lake so I appreciate your patience on advance. Thanks for your time and good luck!In 16 years I have 1 Negative feedback. A young man purchased a video projector and screen, he wanted to cancel the transaction after I already shipped it. When I explained to him that I couldn't refund his money until he received it and shipped it back to me, he used some colorful language and saiddon't worry about it because he already sold it for more than what he bought it for. A week later, negative feedback. He had been oneBay for 3 months and had 4transactions.
