Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1957

This 1957 Chevrolet 3100 truck takes something familiar and gives it an all-new look. We've all seen stake bed pickups like this working around farms, but you've never seen one quite like this. With a lot of custom touches and impressive finish quality, its working days are probably over, but that doesn't mean it's not a gorgeous and nostalgic trip down your favorite country road. Not many trucks were better-looking than the '57 Chevys, and you can see more than a little influence from the Chevrolet passenger cars reflected in its handsome sheetmetal. Bright red is always familiar and beloved on a vintage truck and obviously a lot of work went into the build to bring it to this level. Finish quality is well above average and the doors open and close with gentle pressure, not a hard slam, so you know they took their time to get it to fit just right. Gorgeous chrome was an expensive proposition but they don't look to have cut any corners there, as the front bumper and grille are new, the badges on the front fender are crisply rendered, and the fresh door hardware looks great. The bed was completely fabricated for this truck, featuring a heavy-duty powdercoated steel frame and gorgeous distressed planks and a custom matching tool box that looks like furniture in your home. The chrome side rails are a showy twist on the usual stake bed look, but they're just as effective at securing cargo and look like a million bucks. The interior has been fully restored and upgraded, too, with a handsome dark gray seat cover with embossed Chevrolet bowtie emblem and period-looking pleats. Carpets on the floor help control noise and heat and the gorgeous wooden banjo-style wheel is a great vintage look. Modern Auto Meter gauges were installed in a custom dash panel that fits where the originals once lived, and a matching tachometer has been very skillfully grafted into the dash face. An Ididit tilt column, a powerful Sony AM/FM/cassette stereo with Pioneer speakers, and impressive attention to detail make this truck feel far more sophisticated and polished than an old farm hand. It's really nice. Under the skin, it's been thoroughly updated so while it looks like a truck, it rides and handles like a far newer machine. The front clip, including disc brakes, is from an El Camino and power comes from a 350 cubic inch Chevy motor. The engine bay is orderly and well-built, with Chevy Orange paint and custom wiring that was quite neatly installed to make service easy. Edelbrock supplied both the carburetor and the intake manifold and a few chrome accessories brighten up the black engine bay. Thanks to that modern front clip, this truck offers power steering and an independent suspension, and a heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic transmission powers a 10-bolt rear on air shocks, so you can fine-tune the suspension to match the load. A nice-sounding dual exhaust system exits through a pair of extremely trick tips cut into the diamond plate rear fascia of the bed for a custom look. Factory-style Rallys look great and carry fat 255/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear blackwall radials. You can see the care and thought that went into this truck's construction, making it far more than just an old hauler. If you like the vintage look, you're going to love the updated drive.
