Description for Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1987
There were some great and rare cars that came from the factory in the 1980s if you knew where to look. This 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe is a prime example. The most sporting version of its generation, this car was snuck out Chevy's backdoor with H.O. V8 power and a classic performance style that remains quite appealing today. The design of this Monte Carlo Aerocoupe is one of the last great NASCAR factory custom racers. Chevrolet engineered this limited production car specifically to go faster on the track. They rectified the brick-like design of the Monte Carlo with a long and sloping rear window to give these GM cars a new wind-cheating advantage. Thanks to NASCAR's rulebook, any car wanting to make this kind of large modification would also have to offer them to the public. These often had tantalizingly low production numbers, and there were only 6,052 Aerocoupes produced in 1987 - its final year. This is the same outlaw attitude that created the legendary cars like the Dodge Charger Daytona and Ford Torino Talladega, but now you get it in a much more modern coupe. This one looks great with a professional respray of its factory-correct white. Even the badging was kept aerodynamic, so it correctly wears its SS designation in bold red decals on the doors and rear. The body looks excellently preserved right down to the factory alloy wheels, so you know this collectable has been treated with care all its life.Maroon fabric was a good choice in the SS. It matches the bold but sophisticated tone of the white exterior. The seats, carpets, headliner, and door panels are nicely preserved on this original interior. The split front bench provides seating for six when you need it, and the fold down armrest allows for the kind of individual comfort you expect in any Monte Carlo. It's a luxury performance car, so you get plenty of comfort features, including power windows, tilt wheel, electric rear defogger, cruise control, and the original AM/FM/cassette stereo. The original air conditioning has been adapted to modern R134a for easy servicing. The driver faces a black factory performance steering wheel with bold SS horn ring. In front of that is a sporty full gauge package, including tach. And it's all set in a dash that has a cool aggressive red streaks running through it.On a car this original it's great to see the numbers-matching 305 cubic-inch High Output small block V8 under the hood. Topped by a four-barrel carburetor, it's a strong runner with plenty of old-school muscle car torque. The condition of the car is exactly what you would expect with only 83,969 original miles. Linked to a 200-4R four-speed automatic overdrive transmission, it's a fantastic highway cruiser. The suspension is tuned to be entertaining but you can still feel this car's luxury coupe origins underneath, so it's great for road trips. It even has power steering and front disc brakes to keep you in compete control.Very affordable and very fun, this Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe is already a collector's item. But don't wait around too long, because its rarity and value price means this one will be going fast. Call today!!!
