Description for Chevrolet Chevelle 1967
Sometimes what you need is a big honkin' hammer, and this fantastic 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle is going to make every car on the road look like a nail. With a stout 396 under the hood, a 4-speed manual, and a classic red and black color combination, this is the right tool for the job of going fast.Red cars make don't make very good sleepers, but you'll undoubtedly find this Chevelle's high-profile look appealing. Of course, any car this nicely finished will tend to stand out, and I like that they went the extra mile with the bodywork, so it looks very good even up close. The early Chevelle offered a minimum of frills, and instead let the design speak for itself, from the flying buttresses that frame the rear window to the crease that runs along its flanks. Detailing is crisp, with a lot of time invested in block sanding the bodywork to get it as straight as possible before the two-stage urethane went on. A cowl induction hood was added during the build and given a black stripe down its center, perfect for emphasizing the car's performance intentions. They resisted the urge to throw some fake SS badges on there, and instead the car has a clean, uncluttered look thanks to a subtle DE-badging. the overall effect is a classic performance look with a great stance and awesome attention to detail.Chevelles have always been famous for their upscale interiors, and this one is no exception. Fitted with handsome black seat covers in the original style, this Chevelle's interior is a great place to spend some time. The steering wheel is a gorgeous 3-spoke piece, and the T-handle shifter is connected to a Hurst linkage. The factory only offered basic instruments on the SS, so a set of aftermarket mechanical temperature and oil pressure gauges were added underneath the center stack, along with a tach on the steering column. You'll note that this is a factory A/C car, and all the hardware working behind the scenes is brand new, so it works great. New door panels, fresh seat covers, correct carpets, and a snug-fitting headliner give it a factory-fresh look inside, and a digital AM/FM stereo that was obviously designed to fit into the dash is a great way to get modern sounds with a vintage look. Open the trunk and you'll find a nicely finished cargo bay with correct spatter-finish paint and a factory-style mat.The way this car rumbles, you know something big lives under the hood. Rebuilt to look stock, the 396 cubic inch big block makes this a very potent street machine. Rebuilt 2000 miles ago, it looks fairly OEM at first glance, which is purely intentional, but upgrades include an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold and an upgraded ignition system. Chevy Orange paint, finned valve covers, and an open-element air cleaner make it look great when you pop the hood, and it has been recently treated to a chrome master cylinder and power brake booster. Climb underneath and you'll note that the Muncie 4-speed feeds a bulletproof 12-bolt and there's a recent Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust system. Chrome REV wheels complete the look and wear 225/50/17 front and 235/55/17 rear performance radials.Fast, nicely built, and with the perfect stance, this Chevelle is a legitimate predator that you can still show and drive with pride.
