Description for Chevrolet Impala 1960
1960 Kingswood 9 passenger wagon with 71000 original miles and factory installed ULTRA RARE a/c with in dash vents and high idle pull knob in under dash control unit that works (a/c compressor is missing and lines are cut) was born a 348 4-barrel automatic car and is now a 348 4 barrel 3-speed manual on the floor, motor is original to the car as far as i know i did check the suffix code and it does go to a 60 chevrolet that much i know. I cant say enuff about how well this motor runs, it starts right up and purrs like a kitten, no smoke, no ticks no knocks and oil is very clean, it just had new plugs, wires, points, fuel filter and oil change as well as recent brake work including wheel cylinders. It has a new carrier bearing and u joints not long ago as well as the transmission and rearend fluid changed. Brand new dual flowmaster exhaust as well. All the lights and guages work as they should including dash light, turn signals, license plate lights, dome light, fuel guage and horn. Only thing i know of that isnt working is the wipers, rear window electric motor(goes down manually) and factory radio thats it. I drive this car around town and it does really well for being as old as it is, clutch feels good and shifts as it should. As far as the body goes i dont think you can find an original car with any less rust at this point, the floors have been professionally patched and is very hard to tell any work has been done to them at all (very nice job) There is still just a very small amount in the footwell for the very back passengers in front of the tailgate(see pics) but even that is the best i have ever seen. As far as the floors go thats it. All the cross braces and body mount areas are very nice. The body is wearing its original coat of white paint that has great patina, what you see is what you get here nothing to hide under primer. The only rot on the body is two small spots on the lower rear doors, the very back roof rail corners are starting to rot but not bad at all and the worst being the drivers rear quarter behind the rear wheel and the inner structure is bad there as well, i never had it fixed as i didnt want to ruin the look of the car with a primer spot over the fix. Rockers and inside doors and door jambs are very good. All the original seats are intact and working order as far as folding down goes, the very back seat is almost flawless. Dash is excellent and has all the door panels but the bottom half section of them all have been cut off because they were just basically falling apart. All the glass is near perfect except the windshield, and most chrome is usable but some needs replaced if restoring. This is a complete running driving car and is missing no pieces and parts its all there together running and driving with a great 348 engine!!!! This car has a few bumps and bruises on the exterior but nothing that cant be fixed and the only replacement panels it will need are the 2 pieces of the inner and outer quarter behind drivers rear wheel. Passenger side quarter is amazing in that area and only a very small hole in spare wheel tub. The picture of the inside of the door that is open is indicative of the other three doors and inside tailgate area. Wheels are centerlines 15 inch and car has been lowered by modifying the factory coil springs. Everything else is stock, Rear window does roll down manually but something is wrong with the electric part of it. Overall i think the new owner will be extremely happy with this rare find. Dont let the patina look fool you this is one of the best original kingswood wagon left out there with very minimal rust that is basically untouched for 56 years unless you want to pay the big bucks. Usually these are just rusted out everywhere and too far gone to mess with if you can even find one that isnt already restored bringing the big bucks. Car is for sale locally and will entertain offers to end auction early but will not give out the reserve price. Thanks, good luck and happy bidding.
