Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1958
The Chevy Cameo Carrier Pickup and its cousin, the GMC Suburban Carrier Pickup, were only built between 1955 and 1959, as a limited production of fiberglass fender sides mounted to a steel cargo box. Total production for the Cameo was around 10,000, with just 5,220 produced for 1955. There were far fewer of the GMC counterpart made, only 1000 total and 300 for 1955. Because there were so few pickups made, there are very few still around. This is one of only 1,405 Cameo pickup trucks built in 1958, the last year of production.
These were the first-ever luxury trucks featuring a lot of chrome, eye-catching interior fabric patterns and stylish design features. Mechanically, the Cameo had several improvements over other light-duty trucks of the time, including a new frame, wide track, and longer leaf springs. The wheelbase was shorter by two-inches, measuring 114 inches.
The Cameo was originally powered by a 265 cubic-inch V8 but this one had that replaced with a 327cubic inch fuel injected motor from a 1963 Corvette. The transmission is a Saginaw 4-speed manual with a 12 bolt Chevy rear end. Front brakes are a disc conversion and the rears are drums. The suspension consists of horizontal shocks over leaf springs.
The body is finished in beautiful turquoise blue and black, this light duty 31 Apache Cameo has a gorgeous polished wood and chrome bed, silver and black interior, and Boss Motorsport mag wheels.
This is an amazing classic pickup truck that has been restored/modified impeccably. Feel free to come by and look. We also welcome third-party inspections.
