Extremely high-quality build, an incredible car that's been built to provide modern reliability and a streetable driving attitude - with plenty of horsepower to back up the attention that this intimidating 'Black Widow' commands.Long before a guy named Dale Earnhardt drove a mean looking black Chevy into NASCAR history there was another black Chevy that dominated the scene back in 1957, a mean and nasty fuel injected 1957 Chevrolet 150 monster. It had a fuel injected 283 small block engine delivering 283 horse power and was all it needed to edge out the competition. Buck Baker drove one to a championship in 1957 and this car is a tribute to all the Black Widow cars that were so dominating back then.
For most all its 62 year history, NASCAR was a battlefield for U.S. automakers, tried to which any superiority on the race track as a way to sell more of their cars. In 1957, Chevrolet decided to create a race car that would dominate NASCAR and establish Chevrolet as the car to beat in the minds of buyers across the country. Known as the "Black Widow," the 1957 Chevrolet was one of the most feared race cars of the decade. To this day, the Black Widow remains a subject of much discussion and intense debate among Chevrolet fans. The Southern Engineering and Development Co., or SEDCO, which was run out of Nalley Chevrolet in Atlanta built the first Black Widow for competition. The car was based on the economy Chevy One-Fifty Utility Sedan -- or 150, for short -- and featured a host of special go-fast items: a fuel-injected, 283-cubic-inch, 283-horsepower small-block Chevy engine, three-speed manual transmission, six-lug wheels, 20-gallon gas tank and no radio, cigarette lighter or arm rests.
The 1957 Chevy is one of those timeless designs that looks good no matter how the car is built. Stock, modified, race, pro-touring, whatever; the clean lines and balanced stance on these tough looking muscle cars create a modern look with classic swagger that is an excellent platform for major modifications. If you're ready to stand out with an iconic muscle car that is the perfect mix of classic muscle car attitude and first class modern performance, featuring an awesome combination of no-nonsense looks and vicious street manners, this 1957 Chevrolet 150 'Black Widow' Tribute is your kind of car.
