Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1949
1949 Chevrolet 3600 all-original survivor 5-window 3/4 ton pick up truck!I purchased this truck several years ago from a vintage truck dealer in Iowa. He bought it from the original owner, a very old farmer well into his 90's. (A photo of him sitting behind the wheel the day the truck was sold will go with the truck!).
Imagine...the truck was bought from the owner who purchased the Chevy way back in 1949! Truck even has the original 1949 Iowa plates (though it is registered in my name in CALIFORNIA with clean title and all current!). Also have a original 1949 Chevy truck service manual as well as original owners manual!
When I saw the pics of the truck, I knew I had to own it!
EVERYTHING on the truck is 100% original from DAY ONE!
The hub caps are original and the rims are amazing as they are original complete with the factory pin striping! Interior is 100% original (except floor mat which is OEM as other mat was gone). I also installed new vintage truck-style seat-belts and turn signal arm switch unit from LMC Truck when I recently had the Chevy gone over top to bottom. 3.5k went into rebuilding the carbs, troubleshooting all electrics (everything works perfect!) as well as brake work, clutch replacement, fluids all changed and a full tune service and new wiper blades.
The old shocks were done--kaput! So with the help of my great mechanic (who can be made available to speak with a prospective buyer) I purchased new modern shocks all the way around with some retrofit work required to fit the old brackets. The result is a truck that simply purrs!
This truck was used on the farm for light duty. The 80k miles are true and original. Everything on this rig is "good to go" and sorted out. Only exception is that it does need new tires all the way around. Current set is holding up, but I wouldn't use them for highway travel. This old fella (his name is "Ol' Blu") has been used in San Diego for hardware store runs, trips along the coast surfing and touring. It gets waves and honks wherever it goes!
Other than the floor mat, LMC truck-style turn-signal lever and newer style shocks that I purchased, the prior owner did perform light touch up in several small areas with a matching blue paint and applied clear-coat to preserve the originality. It looks amazing and was a great way to preserve the patina while protecting the body. (Photos show how cool the OG paint looks!)
I've made the decision to thin down my car collection due to the fact that much of the year I am now in Hawaii. I have a 54 and 59 Chevy in Hawaii and just can't afford to ship another one. So..."Ol' Blu" is ready for a new home! I am financially into this truck a good deal more than the BUY IT NOW price, but want to have a swift sale!
Current NADA guides show the following for a 1949 Chevrolet 3600 truck:
Low retail: $6,975.00Average Retail: $16,400.00High: $43,700.00
***What price does one put on a original low mileage survivor? In many ways, it's priceless as it's only ORIGINAL once!

Truck is in San Diego in Ramona, on a lovely ranch. Ol' Blu shares garage space with several old Chevy trucks. For local (serious) bidders, truck is available for viewing/test-drive.
OWNERSHIP HISTORY: This truck was purchased new in 1949 by an Iowa farmer and was used for light duties on the farm & for trips into town. He owned it for 65 years, keeping it in the garage 80% of the time. Now in his mid-90’s the original owner farmer no longer drives so it was sold to a San Diego truck collector in early-2014. It currently has 89K original miles. It has never been modified or restored during its lifetime.
MECHANICAL: Numbers matching original engine (216 ci inline 6-cylinder) starts easily and drives straight & strong and has had a recent tune-up. Its original 4-speed manual trans shifts easily into all gears. Brakes work great with a recent inspection & service.
RUST: There is surface rust on the cab floor and the driver’s side firewall has rust showing through. There is minor rust in the body.
COLORS: Dark Blue exterior with Brown interior
ELECTRICAL: All original gauges work fine including the horn & turn signals.
