Description for Chevrolet C-10 1970
UPDATED: Many more pics below....This truck has great potential! Drive it now as a one-of-a-kind patina truck, or this is a very solid foundation to go as far as you want to go with it. Mechanically sound truck with tons of new parts and upgrades.
I am going to describe all of the issues this truck has up front, so there's no surprises. Of course it's a 46 year-old truck so there could be things I've missed, however, I've owned 18+ of these 67-72 trucks and I am a former professional mechanic, so I am confident that I have described it accurately.
Looks to be mostly original paint or a once re-spray. (No fake patina here - all natural!) Has had a very minor repair over wheel opening on passenger side fender and on driver's rear fender. Has surface rust on roof and through -rust around drip rail, There is a narrow band of rust on both sides where the rocker meets the floor (under the door seal). Small hole in drivers rocker but otherwise rockers are original and mostly solid. Rust on both inner fenders and under battery on radiator support. Rust on underside of hood near latch, but no through rust on the outer skin (a very nice hood will be provided if the buyer desires)
If you know these trucks, you'll recognize just how solid this truck is - out of nearly 20 of these trucks I've owned, this is in the top two, as far as rust and body condition. No rust on inside of cab over windshield. No rust in dash. No rust in cab corners (original cab corners). No rust on frame or cab supports. No rust on firewall. Bottom of doors are both solid and no speaker holes. Little or no rust in kick panels. No rust in floor except as mentioned above. Bed is rust-free as well as bed steps. No rust on either front fender - even under the battery. Has original wood floor that appears to be complete and mostly intact, but it's been covered with metal. (Note: No rust doesn't necessarily mean there is absolutely no trace of surface rust... it means there's no deep or siginicant rust that needs to be cut out or otherwise patched)
Body is very straight and everything lines up pretty well. This truck was obviously well cared for and never abused. Bed rails are arrow-straight and inside of bed isn't beat up at all - a few small dings.
Truck was bought new in Moulton AL and looks to have had only 3 previous owners - all in North Alabama. I have original bill of sale and Protecto Plate and a bunch of service records. I even found a receipt from the shop I worked at as a mechanic dated 1990.
Truck still has the original floor mat (fair condition) and dash is uncut with original radio intact (doesn't work). Very nice original sun visors. Seat frame restored and painted and new original style seat cover. Speedometer works and is dead accurate. Newer fuel tank and sender (fuel gauge works). All lights and signals work and cancel as they should. All glass is in excellent condition - no cracks, fogging, or major scratches.
Has a strong 350 motor with unknown miles (smokes a ltitle after it sets for a while, only at start-up). No unusual noises or major leaks.. Has new cam (unknown specs, but sounds awesome) and Victor Jr. Air Gap intake and new carb. Roller tip rockers. Headers and new dual 3" Flowmasters turned down in front of axle. Firm shifting 350 Transmission with stall converter. 3.08 gears (12-bolt / not posi). New aluminum water pump. Electric fan. Power steering. New power steering hoses.
Truck was a 6 cylinder 3 speed but was converted to auto the right way, with original style column and correct linkage, crossmember etc. (Clutch pedal still there if you want to go with a stick)
Truck was just lowered the right way too.... 4/5" drop. Rear springs and drop spindles on front. Rear shock relocation kit - all quality CPP parts.
Converted to 5-lug / front disks. Swapped to 80's model C10 control arms with modern bushings instead of the old metal shafts - smoother, quieter ride and better handling.
Conversion completed in September 2016, and includes new....
Rear axle bearings and sealsPinion seal and gear oilWheel cylinders/riveted brake shoes/hardwareRear brake drumsLug nutsLower ball joints (AC Delco)Calipers/hardware/brake padsFront shocksFront and rear brake hosesNew motor mountNew battery
Front suspension thoroughly inspected, greased, and computer alignment. Needs nothing to be a safe driver. Tires have 100% new tread, but they are a few years old and show some dry cracking in the tread area. Staggered truck rallys 7"/8". Drives perfect!
Some projects that this truck still needs...
Window/door weatherstrippingNeeds work on window mechanisms.Heater controls need attention.Parking brake needs cables.Still has manual brakes, but truck stops great with a full/firm pedal. No rear bumper at this time.
No title on this year vehicle in Alabama. No matter who you are, or how much money you have, Alabama has never, nor will ever, issue a title for this truck. Bill of Sale only. This truck is, however, registeted/insured and tagged in my name, so I will provide proof of registration if needed. Please check with your state authorities to learn what you need to do before bidding.
Thanks for looking. Feel free to ask any questions.
More pics below!. (There's one pic with 17" rallies on the truck for demostration purposes only - they are not included with this sale).
