Description for Chevrolet Nova 1966
OverviewVery nice driver quality+ 1966 Chevy II Nova Super Sport (SS) 60s street machine. This is a true v8 SS car (118 Vin), but does not have the matching 327 engine. It has a 1971 350 engine. Brings back the memories of the 60s/70s with period correct and original ET slotted mags, original Mr. Gasket "bug catcher" scoop, hood pins, black diamond vinyl interior and traction bars. The car has manual steering and manual drum brakes. The odometer is working and shows over 5,000 miles, I assume this to be 105,000.
I drive this car everywhere, it starts, runs, drives and stops very well. It shows very well and I take it to shows often. It has a 15 yr old paint job, but still shows very nicely and the paint is shiny, with a few blemishes/chips. The car attracts a lot of attention with it's nice lumpy cam and bright yellow paint.
The car is EXTREMELY solid top to bottom and underneath, it spent most of its' life in the Midwest. It retains all of its original sheet metal except the center of the trunk, which has been replaced. The car has zero rot and the inner rockers and floors are amazing. When on the lift at the local custom muscle car exhaust shop, the owner said, "it's the most solid Nova I have ever had on my lift." It's a very nice looking, solid and fun to drive car. The car is fast and sounds great.
Exterior/Body
Bright yellow paint that is approx. 15 years old but is still very shiny and looks very good. There are a few small chips in the paint here and there, but overall, the paint looks very nice. The cowl hood is fiberglass. The chrome bumpers and in excellent condition. Brand new roof rail trim. This is a real "SS" car and retains the original VIN plate that has not been altered in anyway. Note the original "SS" trunk lid emblem.
I can't stress enough how solid the car is. Look closely at the underside and floor pics. I did not want to paint the underside so that all of the original factory seams/pinch welds can be seen and it is clear that nothing is being hidden. This is an extremely solid car that I wish I could keep.
Interior
60s style diamond vinyl seats, door panels, package tray and visors. Original headliner in very good condition. Small tear in rear seat and small section of warn piping on driver's seat (easily repairable). 4 speaker DIN style CD player/AM/FM which sounds great. Custom made stereo insert (dash has NOT been cut).
Driveline
Very well built 1971 Chevy 350 engine that is stout and has a hydraulic roller with roller rockers, aluminum intake and new Holley carb. Pertronix II ignition. Hurst Promatic II shifter (with lockout). Turbo 350 transmission with shift kit and posi rearend. Cars cruises the back roads and highway at 60 mph with no issues. Not sure of the rear gear, but I would guess 3.31 or 3.42s. The car has rear traction bars and subframe connectors.
Exhaust
Brand new custom bent and professionally made/installed dual exhaust. It sounds awesome with the lumpy cam. See video below to hear it.
New:
- Complete brakes (just installed) - shoes and drums
- Fuel sender
- Ignition wires
- Sill plates
- Roof rail gutter trim
- Gas cap
- Tires
- Antenna
- Pinion seal
Note: The heat is not hooked up and the horn is not currently working.
I have really enjoyed driving and going to car shows with this car. It gets lots of attention, but I have a '68 Camaro that I am restoring and I need the $$ to fund that build.
