Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1969
1969 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE RESTOMOD
This near perfect 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Restomod comes out of a local private collection. Its owner wanted a shake the ground, blow your doors off, wake the neighbors Corvette and spent years and close to $60,000 to make one. You’d spend a long time and a lot of money to find one nicer than this. Numerous custom details make this car even more special.
As you can see in the pictures, this Corvette Convertible looks standard but with a custom paint job and modern seating. The paint is phenomenal. The chassis has 60,000 original miles, but the engine has recently been redone and has about 500 break-in miles on it. The engine is a reworked 427 that puts out a stout 580hp. You can see the Hooker headers and side exhaust in the pictures. You can hear it long before you see it. The engine is mated to a Muncie M-21 4-speed with 11-inch clutch and rebuilt linkage. The rear end is a 4:11 – 1 ratio Positraction.
To answer all the questions on the engine. It’s a high compression .060 over 427 cubic inch engine that’s been fully blueprinted and balanced within 2/10ths of 1 gram by a 40 year veteran builder of racing engines. The engine features the following all new:
TRW forged pistons
Total seal gapless piston rings
5140 bushed connecting rods with ARP bolts
Index ground factory steel camshaft
SFI approved harmonic balancer
Flywheel with 11 inch clutch
Howard’s Mechanical Flat Tappet Cam, .640 -.618 lift, 295 – 287 duration, 108 degree lobe center
Howard’s billet 1.7 roller rocker arms
CompCams chromemoly pushrods
Manley dual roller timing chain with captive Torrington bearing and roller thrust cam button
Brodix RaceRite aluminum cylinder heads
Edelbrock RPM performance intake with Holley 870 CFM Avenger carburetor
MSD 6AL ignition complete with MSD coil and mechanical tach drive distributor
MSD plug wires
Melling high volume oil pump and driveshaft
Aluminum Be Cool radiator with dual electric fans (idles in traffic with no overheating on a 95 degree summer day)
Heater core with hoses
This car was completely redone within the last 1,000 miles. The suspension was gone through with new: ball joints, shocks, front and rear springs, power steering pump and control valve, steering ram, and hoses. The brakes were redone with new: pads, master cylinder, rotors, and hoses. The headlight assemblies were rebuilt with all new vacuum hoses. All lights work.
The wheels are the correct Rallies. The Corvette has been lowered slightly and has all new suspension front and back. This is a fun car to take up the twisties, and it will more than hold its own in a straight line. The top is the original factory hardtop. All of the glass is in near perfect condition and original.
The tires are also new in the last year and have plenty of tread. All fluids are fresh. Everything on the car works as it should, all lights, wipers (though you’re never driving it in the rain), turn signals, horn, windows, etc. The stereo is the original AM/FM. The car sounds great and gets plenty of thumbs up and smart phone photos wherever it goes. If you want quiet, this is not your car. If you want a completely redone restomod Corvette Convertible that will get noticed wherever you go, this is your car. This car is very streetable and a blast to drive.
