Carbon Classics is proud to offer for sale this 1981 Camaro with T-Tops and SBC V8. Carbon Classics was founded in 2013 with the goal of building affordable modernized classics. Our focus is on durability. reliability and modern amenities. We try and offer the best value upgrades. In this vein. we have done a few things worth noting (and a lot of regular restoration work as explained below). Rebuilt Motor (see below) Rebuilt Transmission Edelbrock Carb and intake New HEI distributor 16” Wheels Painted and Clear Coated ALL New Weatherstripping Brakes (lines. pads. rotors. shoes. drums. hardware. wheel cylinder) New Shocks 3rd Gen seats – including a functioning power driver seat New alternator New battery We completed a full engine rebuild minus the crank shaft and pistons since they looked fine. The previous owner said the engine was recently rebuilt and after taking it apart it seemed very clean with little wear. We changed the CAM (Comp Cams PN# 249-CL12-238-2). new timing chain. sent the heads to a machine shop to redo them. added new screw in studs. new lifters. new oil pan. new intake. new carburetor. new distributor. It’s a Small Block Chevy 305ci. The engine and engine compartment were painted. As per the pictures we upgraded the aesthetics by smoking the parking lamps and tail lights. For the paint job we went black with grey metallic stripe on the hood and trunk and a single bright red accent stripe. We faded the grey to give it depth. All this is paint (no stickers/decals). and then clear coated all at once. This is a really high quality paint job. We have never seen this type of modern paint job on an 81 Camaro. As with any paint job. the real chore is in the prep and getting the body straight. The pictures are great. but the car is even better in person. The car is really straight. the lines are really crisp. and the gaps are all good. There are tons of 81 Camaros. but none quite like this. The transmission is a rebuilt TH350 with a shift kit. Shifts awesome! We had it set up relatively mild but it’s a simple change to make the shifts harder. Rear is a GM 10 bolt with very low gearing. We left it like this since with the t-tops off this thing is meant to cruise down the highway. The gearing keeps it nice a mild. Power Brakes: Disc up front. Drums in the rear. Interior has front and rear seats out of the a third gen camaro. Carpet is new. package tray is new. radio is Bluetooth. dash has some small damage around the passenger side – we didn’t replace it since it is relatively small. The steering wheel is a grant. We added temp. oil pressure. and volt gauges to keep an eye on things. All the Weatherstripping is brand new. Most of the rubbers - trunk rubbers. hood rubbers etc are brand new.
