Description for Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 1983
Up for auction is a 1983 Chevrolet K10 short bed with a 6.2 diesel and automatic 700r4 transmission. The truck has the NP208 transfer case which is the shift on the fly unit and it has automatic front hubs. I have owned this truck for 10 years, and purchased it from the original owner with 148,300 miles. This truck originally belonged to the airline I worked for and they purchased it new in 1983. The truck had always been on airport property until I bought it, which explains the lack of rust due to not being exposed to salty roads. After I bought it, I stored it in the winter as I couldn't bring myself to ruin it by driving it on salty Ohio roads in the winter. This truck still has all of the original steel brake and fuel lines and the exhaust system is all original save for one of the mufflers (the original cracked). I was even able to reuse the factory exhaust clamp when I replaced the cracked muffler. I can't imagine there were very many of these short bed 4wd diesel trucks made, and I have yet to see another.Since I have owned it, I have replaced the following parts: completely rebuilt the front suspension using Spicer chassis parts (ball joints and tie rod ends), front leaf springs, all of the sway bar bushings, rubber brake hoses front and rear, front axle u-joints, front wheel bearings and seals, front and rear brakes, rear cylinders and hardware, all coolant hoses, 4 core brass radiator, wiper motor, reman steering gear, reman hydroboost unit, all power steering and pressure hoses, power steering pump, OEM glow plug controller, alternator, all 4 battery cables with OEM cables, all window and door seals (except wing vent seals), front wheel hubcaps, OEM GM front fender emblems, OEM turn signal switch, taillight assemblies, side marker light assemblies, and license light assemblies. The front tires have 3,500 miles on them, and the rears have around 15,000. I also put 2 new Napa batteries in it about 3 months ago.
Overall, the truck is in really nice condition with very minimal rust. The only areas with rust through are shown in the pictures, being the RH rear wheelwell lower rear corner, and both rocker panels. The inner rockers are still very solid with only areas of surface rust. All of the body mounts are solid with only surface rust. All of the bed supports are solid as well. There are very small spots of rust here and there, but no holes other than what has been mentioned. I don't think there are too many solid unmolested trucks in the rust belt like this one! The interior is in good condition. The door panels are very nice with no cracks, and the vinyl seat is perfect, no rips/tears, etc. The rubber floor is also in good condition. The dash pad has a few cracks, but I installed a dash cover to minimize that. I added a headliner and corresponding trim to this truck to make it a bit quieter while driving. I also added a lighted rear view mirror since this truck didn't come with a dome light. I added a sliding rear window as well, since there is no A/C. The only real flaw in the interior besides the dash pad cracks would be that the opening around the ashtray was cut a bit larger for a CB radio that used to be in truck at the airport. I found a new ashtray to fill the hole, but never got around to finishing the edges where it was cut. The truck still has it's original windshield (still has a 1983 New York inspection sticker on it), and it has very minor clouding along the bottom.
The truck is located about 25 miles east of Columbus, OH. I have a clear title in hand. Shipping is buyer's responsibility, but I'll assist in any way I can. Deposit due within 24 hours, and Paypal is acceptable for deposit only. Cash or bank wire transfer only will be accepted for remaining balance. Truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early if truck sells. Thanks for looking!
After listing, I noticed the Autocheck shows an odometer problem. There is absolutely no problem. In Ohio, if the vehicle has a 5 digit odometer, they make a notation on the title that says "Exceeds Mechanical Limits". This is not an indication of a problem.
