Description for Chevrolet G20 Van 1967
This is a Vintage Chevrolet G10 Sportvan 108. I was told it was a barn find and that it sat for many years. How else does a van that is 50 years old have such low mileage. I am convinced that the odometer is correct. This van has just 58,900 miles. I am a retired auto and motorcycle mechanic and I have owned several of these flat nosed vans over the years. I just finished a complete tune-up on the 230 cu. in. inline 6 cylinder engine. New Blue Steak Points, Cap, Condenser, and Rotor. New AC Delco Spark Plug Wires and New AC Spark Plugs. Also a brand new AC PCV valve and a lifetime warranty Napa Fan Belt. I have also just finished rebuilding the Factory Original Carburetor. Also a brand new Fram Air Filter and a new inline gas filterwas installed. The van starts at the tap of the key and it runs like new. Very quiet and smooth! The previous owner's of this van had done lots of work to make this Van roadworthy again. It has a complete Brake System Rebuild. New Shoes, Wheel Cylinders, and Brake Hardware. It has brand new U-joints and New Optima 70,000 Mile Tires. It has 5 of these, one of which is a mounted spare tire stored inside the van. That tire has never been on the road. Brand new ShockAbsorbers, Front and Rear and the exhaust looks like it has been replaced not long ago also, No Holes or rust on exhaust. So all of the major important items have already been addressed. I have also just changed the motor oil and checked the whole van over. It is in great mechanical shape and is ready for the road. This van is a Midwest van and has been in Wisconsin and now in Illinois. It does have bad body rust along the bottom of the body. The vanhas low enough miles that it actually still has the original Factory Radiator and it still does not leak! I believe it has the Factory original Water Pump and it does not leak but I have heard the bearings squeala littlewhich means to me that the bearings are dry and the pump should be replaced before it fails. The rear main seal does leak some motor oil and I have added some Lucas Oil Stop Leak to try and stop the leak. I have driven just a few miles and already the leak has slowed a lot. It appears thatthe King Pins and other steering components were not greased regularlyand so it has been hard to try and pump some grease in the fittings. The King Pins are stiff becausethey were not greased. I did get grease in there and I have greased it several times. It nowsteers well and I believe it will loosen up more with use and more grease jobs. I do not think the King Pins will need replacing. The steeringDragLink is fine and the van steers good and does not wander.Everything on this van works including the Factory Motorola push button AM radio. Thedriver's side window works fine but the passenger side window is hard to roll down and up. The four rear window that are made to open workfine. This is a Sportvan so it is a Passenger vehicle and it originally had rear bench seats but those are no longer with the van. The van also has a step that swings outwhen the side door isopen but it is not hooked up and does not work right now. The rust on this van can be repaired with new panels that are available. It isin Very Good Condition and it will not need much more work. Itshould get a new radiator and new water pump soon but for now it is a good running van readyto just drive orto restore the body. The body only has a few minor dings and dents. If I do not sell this van here on Ebay I will be Happy to just keep it and drive itand continue to make it mechanically ready for a long road trip. I believe it can driveanywhere today but I would like to see a new radiator and water pump first. Please be sure to use the" Ask a Question" to ask me anything about this rare van. There are very few 90 inch wheel base vansleftout there and even fewer 108 inch wheel base SportVan's I have a clearIllinois Title in the previous owner's name ready to transfer. See pictures of Title.I hope to sell this van locally and in person Please call my cell phone if you would like to come and see the van in person. Please leave a voice message with a return phone number. (331) 205-0600. It is the new owner's responsibility to pick-up or have a transportation company pick-up the van a.s.a.p. I will hand the title and keys over only after all of the payments have been made and the money is in my Bank.
