Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1957
I have owned this 1957 Chevy for 9 years. I purchased this car from a private Florida owner. It has been in the State of Florida, going to car shows and cruise-ins. I have tried to keep the car as original as possible. It does not have the original 283 engine. This 57 is mileage exempt. The mileage on the speedometer is not correct. It currently has a Chevy 350 cubic engine with a 4 Barrel Carb,(16K468336-- V0707CMJ) with a mild cam (that has that great sound) the transmission is a 350 Turbo Automatic Transmission. The engine and transmission came out of a 1976 Monte Carlo. This car is equipped with Headers, so the engine breathes really well. It runs and sounds great and does not use any oil. I have used Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil in the car since I have owned the car. After I purchased the car, the entire interior was gutted. I replaced the old (not stock) upholstery with new original interior. I repainted all of the metal interior with Matador Red paint and also replaced all interior side panels with the original red and black. I repaired a small hole in the floor and sprayed the car's floor and trunk with rust proofing bed liner (black) I recovered the floor with Dynamat to reduce noise and heat from entering the car. The interior was re-carpeted with the original black carpet. This car came from the factory painted Canyon Coral with the India Ivory top. The owner, evidently did not like the original color. The upholstery code for this 57 Chevy with India Ivory top and Matador Red bottom is red and black interior.
The frame is in great shape considering the car is 60 years old. I also replaced the front drum brakes with power disc brakes. These cars are heavy and the front disc brakes really help in stopping distance and is a lot safer. Most owners of 57's that are not all original have replaced their front brakes with disc brakes for safer driving. The interior is about 4 years old. The disc brakes are a year old. This car is an excellent driver. If you are looking for a trailer queen then this car is not for you. If you're looking for an awesome 57 Chevy at an honest price, you've found it.
I have quite a few extra parts and books that go with the car. I have 4 original 57 steel rims that go with the car. I also have the spinner hubcaps. I at one time was going to go back to the spinner hubcap look. To give the car a more original look. The speedometer is not currently working. This car has never seen rain. It has only been driven to car shows and cruise-ins.I have put about 4,000 miles on the car. I spend 4 months up North and 8 months in the South for the last 10 years. This car has only had non-ethanol gasoline in it since I've owned it.
I have a book binder with receipts that shows all the work that I have done on the car. I love this car, but it is time to let her go to another 57 Chevy lover. To bring this car up to first class condition, a little body work and paint would make this car exceptional. If I kept it, I was going to paint it black. I am not really a black car guy, but a Black 57 Chevy with all that chrome and stainless is the best looking car on the road.
You will not be disappointed. This is the Best Deal for a 57 currently on EBAY. I have over $30,000 invested in this car. I have set the Reserve much lower. Good luck in your bidding.
