Description for Chevrolet Blazer 1983
1983 BLAZER SILVERADO A/C AUTOMATIC 6. 2 DIESEL. Ultra. ultra rare truck "original mile (59. 00 mi) survivor vehicle". Sorry need to cover a couple things. Hopefully this will aid in your decision. Why am I selling? To begin my business has grown to the point where I need to fund a second truck. That means the Blazer has to go. I currently use it as a daily driver. (it is that dependable). So expect additional miles will be accumulated. First question. how does it do in the cold? It's been 10-12 degrees here in Connecticut and this truck can handle it. In the winter months I use an anti-gel treatment pour it in at every fill up. There also an aftermarket heater block. Generally about 10 seconds on the glow plugs and 1/2 a peddle (on the very cold days). Its been incredibly dependable throughout my ownership and fires right up. I've repaired or replaced a handful of things both esthetic and functional. These include a brand new dash pad and brushed aluminum dash faceplate from LMC truck. I located an original spare tire holder set up and the correct style 15" rim and added these to the storage area where they belong (used all factory holes). I've added 5 new heavy duty rubber matts throughout the truck to save the new carpet set. The back seat is original. the fronts have been recovered in velour (very 80's). I added new rear speaker grills as the prior ones where all broken up. The transfer case had a leaky front seal so I had it replaced. The windshield had hundreds of little rock flecks so I had a new tinted windshield installed with the proper antenna wire inside it. Previous owner had two new batteries installed. The second owner had the 700R4 trani rebuilt in 2005. It works and shifts like a dream. The vehicle is highly documented and as I was told the first owner read about this truck in 82' (See the included article from Four Wheeler) and ordered this "Colonial Yellow and White" truck to match the one in Four Wheeler. I have all the original paperwork from when this truck was bought new in Colorado (see pics). It's spent most its life there (no salt) so there's virtually no rust underneath and obviously no rot. The vehicle has had one repaint with the correct factory color. Colonial Yellow with White top and Tan cloth interior. The sale will also include the original owners manual. 1st bill of sale. service parts ID plate with all the factory options as sold (see pics). This Blazer has all its factory gauges. and am/fm/ radio and everything works great. The upgraded Silverado option makes it a luxury 4x4. instead of just rubber matts and vinyl seats. One of the more rare features includes factory air conditioning. I recently had it converted to more current R134 specs. At the same time. I had it charged up (June 14'). Another super rare option the original owner ordered was the Suburban super-sized 31 gallon fuel tank. I've never really checked the MPG. but many a story from the internet boasts about 22-25 MPG for this vehicle. (25 x 31= ~750 mile range). Currently. the fuel gauge is half right. Only the bottom half of the fuel gauge is accurate. I guess that's the important half (never goes above 1/2 a tank). At some expense. I found and purchased an OEM GM fuel sender (specific to the 83 diesel blazer & very hard to find) and then had the tank pulled and replaced the original fuel sender. While the tank was out I also had the shop fully undercoat the truck anticipating all the road salt we see here in New England. The undercoat job was messy and expensive but its a good preventative measure for the over salted roads. My luck. it turns out the inaccuracy was in the actual fuel gauge itself. not the sending unit. Again the gauge works fine from 1/2---> Empty. The engine bay is very clean. it still has factory markings and stickers still in place under the hood. The paint is very nice. as is every piece of chrome and stainless. The 6. 2 Detroit diesel V-8 engine runs strong (as noted above starts every time) with lots of low end torque. Top speed is about 80 mph and it can cruise comfortably at about 70+. These are not speed demons. The optional 4-speed auto transmission shifts smoothly. the brakes stop the car quickly and securely. The body is in very good to near excellent condition. The metal is clean and straight with no signs of damage. The chrome is in very nice condition overall. all the glass is in great shape. The tires are probably 90% there. The entire driven line just had all its fluid replaced (rear-end. trans. transfer case and obviously the motor). All the mechanical components are in excellent original condition ( trans was rebuilt in 05'). I just replaced the fuel filter this week. Again I may consider a possible or partial trade for a flatbed. crew cab. dually 4x4. Any questions. email is best.
