Description for Chevrolet C-10 1979

Hi! Up for auction is and all-original 1979 Chevy C10 Custom 2WD Pickup truck. It is in FANTASTIC condition for it’s age, inside and out. It has a rebuilt 350 V8, so it runs super-strong, and it drives great. IT HAS A CLEAR, CLEAN OREGON TITLE SIGNED-OVER AND READY FOR THE NEXT OWNER

I purchased it locally from the gentleman who rebuilt the engine (all receipts for the parts will be included). According to him, the original owner of the truck used it from time to time, but not a lot. He then sold it, and the 2nd owner used it occasionally until it started to run a little rough. It then was parked in his 100% dry shop, and stayed there for 10 years until he finally decided he was never going to get around to actually doing anything with it, so he sold it last year to the person who rebuilt the engine and from whom I purchased it. He was told that the 50K on the odometer was ORIGINAL MILES and had never turned over. The overall condition of the original equipment and interior seemed to support that claim, and therefore I am listing it as original mileage.

Here is a thorough run-down of the major aspects of the truck:

MECHANICAL:

ENGINE: Most major parts in the original 350 engine were replaced with NEW parts in the last 3 months (Nov/Dec 2016 & Jan 2017) by the previous owner who is a certified mechanic. The engine is timed perfectly, sounds fantastic, and runs super strongly. It starts right up in the morning, but needs to idle for a few minutes to warm up. Once it’s warmed up, it’s good for the rest of the day (and I assume as the weather gets warmer, that will be less of an issue).

DRIVEABLITIY: As stated, the truck drives beautifully. There is no floating or drifting while going down the highway, and the alignment seems to be as straight as you can expect. All four tires are in nice condition with even wear. The suspension feels super-solid and it drives smoothly over bumps. The brakes work perfectly. There is very little play, if at all, in the steering...super solid. All in all, It REALLY has been a pleasure to drive...way better than what you would expect from an “old truck.”

TRANSMISSION: No issues whatsoever...shifts smoothly as it should, when it should (it’s one of the reasons I’m convinced that 50K miles on the odometer is actual miles).

INTERIOR:

SEATS: The original bench seat is in absolutely stellar condition...no rips or tears of any kind, excellent coloration still in the vinyl, and it is very comfortable. I don’t know how you could expect to find one in better condition anywhere else.

DASH: The metal facia and gauges are in great shape...the original blue paint still looks fantastic. Most of the gauges work, some have not been hooked up yet from the work that was done in the engine. All the vital ones work though...speedometer and gas gauge both work perfectly. He installed an aftermarket gauge at the bottom of the dash with a working temperature gauge. The main thing that would need to be replaced for a near-perfect interior would be the dashpad, which has cracking. It is covered, however, with the correct-color Dash Mat, tailormade to fit the C10 dash, and the Dash Mat is in great condition.

MISC: The original door panels are in excellent condition with normal wear and fading that you would expect. The paint in the rest of the cab (ceiling/roof, door jambs, floor, back, etc) is in great shape...really nice shade of blue.

BODY:

Staring facing the tailgate, and then moving counter-clockwise:

BED: The bed itself is in phenomenal shape with ZERO rust issues...just the slightest of surface rust here and there, and of course, some staining from dirt & normal use. But again, no rust holes to speak of at all. The tailgate opens and closes perfectly, and only has minor imperfections that you would expect from this age of truck.

REAR BUMPER: No issues at all...wear from normal use and rust-free. Chrome looks fantastic. Has hitch with pictured 2” tow ball. Both tail lights are in excellent shape and work perfectly.

PASSENGER SIDE OF BED: There is a small dent underneath the RH tail light (Picture #5), that I didn’t see until I did my close-look inspection...not super noticeable at first glance, and not hard to repair if desired. The rest of the passenger-side of the bed is in great shape...virtually rust-free (wheel well included), with all the trim intact and in excellent condition.

PASSENGER DOOR: EXCELLENT condition with only spots of surface rust near the bottom. Paint is in excellent condition inside and out.

PASSENGER FRONT FENDER: The fender as a whole is totally straight. This is where we find one of the very few deep-rust issues on the truck, with small affected areas on both bottom corners: one where the fender meets the door (PICTURE #7 ), and one on the front corner by the front bumper (picture #8). As you can see, these are small areas that have not gotten out of control and could be rectified relatively easily.

FRONT BUMPER: Super straight, excellent chrome, and rust-free.

FRONT GRILLE: Super straight, excellent chrome, and rust-free. The headlights it surrounds are also in excellent condition, and both work perfectly.

HOOD: Overall, the hood is straight, with good paint...just normal wear. As you can see in picture #2 (use zoom tool), there are some rust spots on the lip of the hood, but not deep yet, and nothing that can’t be rectified (although this is one of the first things I would address if I was purchasing it). The hood opens perfectly, closes perfectly, and STAYS OPEN as it should (springs work great).

DRIVER FRONT FENDER: Working around to the driver’s side now, the front fender is perfectly straight with good paint. If you use the zoom tool on the photo, you can see the very beginnings of some cancer by the bumper. However, it’s still very light, and could easily be fixed before it gets too deep.

DRIVER DOOR: The exterior of the door is in great shape, as is most of the interior and jambs. This is where we find the other two spots of noticeable rust damage: one at the bottom corner of the door’s interior (picture #15), and one at the other bottom interior corner beneath the speaker (Picture #16). Again, we all know that the doors of these older trucks are super-rust prone, and these few spots of rust issues are very minor in comparison to the vast majority of original-condition trucks of the same vintage, and are still repairable. But I wanted to make sure to highlight them to be as thorough as possible so there are no surprises! This door also seems to be out of alignment just a bit, as it is a little harder to close than the passenger door.

DRIVER SIDE OF BED: In great shape...virtually rust-free (wheel well included), with all the trim intact and in excellent condition.

ROOF: Excellent Condition

WHEELS & TIRES: Stock wheels with ORIGINAL HUBCAPS, which are in absolutely fantastic condition. As mentioned before, all 4 tires are in excellent condition with even wear...still a lot of life left.

GLASS: Both windows are in fantastic shape, and both roll up and down smoothly and completely. The windshield has a crack in it on the driver’s side, but it does not affect visibility at all. And the rear-cab glass in excellent condition. There are no rust issues at all around either the windshield or rear-glass.

So there’s our walk-around! I have tried to be as thorough as possible, but please let me know if you have any questions or would like a specific picture of any other area of the truck that is not already in my posted photos. IT HAS A CLEAR, CLEAN OREGON TITLE SIGNED-OVER AND READY FOR THE NEXT OWNER.

I honestly cannot understate just how GREAT this Chevy looks, and how well it runs & drives. You would be hard-pressed to find another all-original, unrestored specimen that is in better condition. This is the perfect candidate for having a great-looking daily driver as-is, a great running/driving project, or a great foundation for a full restoration.

Again, let me know if you have any questions at all...Thanks!
