Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1949
1949 GMC Chevy 5 window pickup
I am relisting this as a 1949 GMC pickup. I originally listed this as a 1947 GMC Pickup, I didn't pay close enough attention to the old GMC website when I read it. The gentleman who purchased it last time, really wanted a 47'. It was my mistake with no hard feelings on either side - so - I am using this preface along with my original description that follows. Again, it is a 1949 GMC - and I have a clear -clean title, in my name now.
NO RESERVE! I am selling a great old GMC pickup. This would make a wonderful project as it is mostly complete, and not all crumpled up like so many of them I see. It also has a great patina, and although I'm not a big rat rod guy, if you are, this would be a great candidate.
This truck was purchased from an estate here in central Kansas, and I believe it to be a one owner at least it had been on the same farm as long as anyone could remember. I was told it was a '48, but by decoding the VIN it is a 1947 model. FC152 - 25825. F=1947, 15=3/4 ton, and the 2 denotes the wheelbase of 122.25". I got this info from old gmc trucks.com, so if I'm wrong blame them!
There are a couple of rust issues with this. First of all, the cab corners, which nearly all trucks of this vintage have an issue with. It also has some rust in the floor, mainly on the passenger side. This was because they had carpet in the truck, which held the moisture in. It appears the passenger side floor was getting thin, so they cut part of it out, there was a piece of tin covering it, which I removed so you can see the actual floor. The rest of the truck is generally very solid, frame is straight and solid - etc..
As for the drivetrain, it appears to be all correct, original, and complete, with the exception of a missing generator. This pickup had not ran since the late 70's or early 80's, so condition is unknown.
The bed that is currently on the truck doesn't appear to be the original bed, simply judging by the color, although it does appear to be the correct bed, and the tailgate says GMC. The bed is just sitting on the truck, but I will secure it for shipping purposes if needed.
Hopefully the pictures tell you about the rest, I tried to get pictures from all angles, but if you need more pictures, or have any questions, please call or text Cort at 620-786-5172. Please check my feedback, I've sold quite a few old vehicles with no disappointment's, I offer free loading and don't mind if vehicle sits here awhile, as long as it's paid for and as long as you keep in touch. Thank you and Good luck!
