Description for Chevrolet Style-Line Deluxe 1951
Original 1951 Chevrolet Style-Line Deluxe Tin-Woodie WagonWould be great for an auto museum, dealership, lodge etc.
The Styleline DeLuxe was Chevrolet's top-of-the-line series in the early 1950s. This vehicle cost even more than the convertible and was the most expensive chevy made in 1951. Fisher Body was reportedly skeptical about making an all-steel bodied wagon in the 1930s but by 1950, it created its first all-steel wagon, affectionately referred to as the "Tin Woody." In the station wagon's case, Harley Earl and his skilled stylists created a clever automotive illusion, a steel body with faux wood sections. This way, Chevy continued to cater to customers who wanted or demanded that woody look without the maintenance and durability issues that accompanied vehicles with real wood body sides. Car was partial restored in 2012. New or rebuilt ..Water pump..Shocks...Bias Ply tube tires...Rechrome...All brake cylinders including master...Original 216 motor with oil filter system 56k miles(have to add fuel additive)...Working tube radio and wind up clock... This rare deluxe model normally sell for 35k plus..Please do your own research before bidding. I have perfect feedback since 2005 Please contact me with any questions.Vehicle Specific History
I asked my dad for a little history on the car. He said he got it in trade for some work he did in Chicago in the 1960's. He really had no use for it so he parked it in a barn and that's why it has low mileage. In 2012 he had some friends do some body work on it. He also had it re chromed. (like looking in a mirror) and had all the stainless steel polished to a mirror like finish including the stainless grille. He thinks Chevy worked with Chris Craft boat company on the interior woodwork, which might make sense it kinda drives like a boat..LOL. The exterior woodgrain was matched with the old decals for exact color and pictures were taken to match the original direction of the grains. It runs very quiet but you have to add lead additive to the gasoline, people at car shows don't even know when I am behind them. This car has been featured and various concurs shows. Car is being sold AS IS. If you can find another please note that this is a good buy for this type of vehicle. Thanks for bidding.
