Description for Chevrolet El Camino 1966
'Red Hills Rods & Classics' is very happy to offer you this beautiful 1966 Chevrolet El Camino 396/325hp 4-Speed Pickup finished in gorgeous Inverness Green w/ black vinyl roof, wrapped around a beautiful black bench seat interior. This is a very cool '66 El Camino folks! According to all of the previous owner history, the 40,000 miles shown are actual miles. Built in Fremont California and sold new to a Hollywood stunt man in LA, this classic pickup left the factory w/ all the right options including: 396/325hp big-block motor, Muncie M20 4-Speed Transmission, 12-Bolt Posi Rear End w/ 3.73 Gears, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Knee-Knocker Tach, AM/FM Radio, Tilt Steering Column, Simulated Wood Steering Wheel, and Factory Air Conditioning. This pickup lived the large majority of its life in California and has always been in a very dry atmosphere, hence the rust-free sheet metal. A $55,000 restoration was completed in 2014 and as you can see by the photos, the final results will put a huge smile on your face. After complete disassembly, the pickup was finished in beautiful Inverness Green, which has to be seen in person to truly appreciate how gorgeous it is. The factory original color was Tropical Turquoise, but after seeing a similar truck in Inverness Green the owner made the call to paint the El Camino in the same beautiful shade. Again, this color is simply beautiful w/ a light metallic sparkle. The chrome bumpers, bed rails, stainless trim, etc., was all re-chromed and is absolutely beautiful throughout, and the black vinyl roof is simply perfect. She sits on factory correct 15" Rally Wheels wrapped with P225/70/R15 BF Goodrich Silvertown Redline Radial tires. A custom-built White Ash wood bed-liner w/ steel slats was installed, which truly adds a touch of class and is one of my favorite features on this truck. It is not bolted down or screwed to the bed so it can be easily removed. You can walk around this truck a hundred times and you will not find a bad angle. When you slide into the black vinyl bench seat interior, it feels like 1966 all over again! The interior was completely restored to factory correct specifications throughout using only correct materials, including new black seat cover, door panels, kick panels, dash, and carpeting. All of the original gauges were completely rebuilt, and all lights, blinkers, radio, air conditioning, etc., are in perfect working order. Besides the Pioneer speakers in the kick panels, the interior is just like it was when it left the Fremont plant. The spare tire and jack assembly are behind the bench seat as they should be. When you open the hood, you will find the completely rebuilt 396/325hp big-block V8 motor linked to a completely rebuilt Muncie M20 4-Speed transmission, which feeds power to the original 12-bolt Posi rear axle w/ 3.73 gearing. The original Harrison AC unit was not blowing cold enough so they decided to install a Vintage Air Conditioning & Heat unit which blows cold through the factory original ventilation system. This '66 El Camino fires up instantly, settling into a nice smooth idle and runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way! The Flowmaster exhaust sounds awesome, with that deep Chevy big-block tone. The front end was completely rebuilt and all new front/rear (air) shocks were installed which makes for a perfect ride. The Power Steering & Power Front Disc Brakes make driving around town effortless, and when you get her out on the highway, she tracks straight & true. The GM heavy-duty radiator was completely rebuilt, which keeps her running nice & cool even in 100-degree summer weather. This '66 El Camino is an absolute blast to drive w/ tons of power & torque, and gets lots of attention anywhere she goes. Paperwork includes the original owner's manuals, original title & owner history, and piles of receipts & invoices from the extensive restoration work performed. If you have been searching for a 60's-era El Camino, one that you can drive & enjoy thoroughly w/out worrying about reliability, as well as an example that can win trophies at your local car shows, well look no further!
