Description for Chevrolet Corvair 1966

1966 Corvair Monza Sport Sedan 4spd in very good condition. This is a second-family/third owner vehicle. Originally purchased new in Hartford CT, then gifted to a grandson 25 years ago. At that time, the engine was rebuilt and the car received a good qualiity respray. Vehicle was driven regularly for several years and then more infrequently. Was maintained by a good local mechanic.

This car was purchased from the previously owner who had stored it indoors in upstate NY. Frame and body are in great condition with no rust. Paint is in good condition and the all-original interior is in excellent condition. Runs great and starts on first crank! Vehicle had 85795 original miles on it at time of ad placement. Currently 15x7 Camaro wheels (trued and painted) and brand new Michelin Defender 195/60R15s are installed but the sale also includes the original 13" rims (with older bias ply tires) and wheel covers all in very good condition.

Original 110hp motor is installed. Previous older rebuild must not have included Viton seals as it has typical Corvair oil leaks from the pushrod tubes. The suspension is tight commensurate with a 51 year-old vehicle. Front steering is straight and tracks very smoothly. Radio works but tuner needs cleaning. Sale includes orginal owners manual and some documentation.

Too many cars - selling in order to focus on my 64 Monza convertible.

UPDATE 17JUN2017

This is a relisting for my 66 Corvair Monza Sport Sedan. Original auction ended with several offers via private message but none via official Make an Offer. Please do no waste your time and mine by making a ridiculously low offer - this car is priced right.

eBay limits images to 24 so I have uploaded 66 images including two videos to my Flickr account. These images can be viewed here https://flic.kr/s/aHskXdJzRN and show views of often-suspect areas on Corvairs. There are two images of the inside of the front fenders taken through the vent/grille area and show ZERO rust and fenders in great shape.I have run a magnet all over this car. I am not aware of bondo or rust.

UPDATE 1JUN2017:

I have received lots of interest and questions about this great car. eBay only allows 24 photos so I have added up to the limit, If there is something you need to see I will do my best to send it to you via PM.

In response to some of the questions: The body of the car is in great shape - there is no rust/body rot that is typical of Covairs. This vehicle was stored indoors as I understand it prior to my purchase and since I bought it is stored indoors under a Wolf car cover (which is included in the auction.)

I have included an image of the underside floorpan on the passenger side - it is typical of the vehicle - in great shape with no rust - still has the original factory undercoating applied. There is no rust-through, patches or bondo that I am aware of and believe that all sheetmetal is original. I am not aware of any damage/accident history.

I have updated the photo of the trunk area as one individual asked about the area under the trunk mat (which is original). I sprayed Clark's trunk paint and clear sealer when I bought it a year ago to dress it up for car shows. There was absolutely no rust-through, only light surface moisture rust-staining at the time I did this work.

The mileage was confirmed when I bought the vehicle through the State of NY where it was titled when I purchased from a lawyer there a year ago.

I have added an image of the floor pan under the carpeting at the drivers feet. Again, great shape, no rust other than surface moisture rust-staining.

This car is SOLID all around. Absolutely no rust in the rockers, wheel arches, body panels, trunk, engine compartment, or battery tray. I have added images of the door jambs on the driver's side. Passenger side is the same - great condition. Engine area still has the original sound-deadening insulation blanket.

Interior is a 8.5-9/10. There are no rips, tears or flaws. One area of the carpet by the rear seat has some sun fading. The cardboard rear deck is faded but in really good shape. The rear seat folds nicely.

Someone asked about top 3 "known issues": I would say (1) there is an exhaust leak at the manifold to collector pipe (I think) - sounds racy actually - just haven't had tome address it, (2) the radio works but the tuner needs cleaning and doesn't get proper reception, and (3) when the engine was rebuilt many years ago they did not use Viton seals on the pushrod tubes as they have the typical Corvair leaks - a nuisance but not a problem - pretty easy fix but again, haven't had time to attend to.

This is a GREAT DRIVER! Very reliable. I love driving it and you will not be disappointed.
