Description for Chevrolet C-10 1969
Listed for sale is a 1969 Chevrolet C10 Short Box pickup truck. Over the last 3 years this truck has gone through a complete cosmetic and mechanical restoration. Keep in mind that this is obviously not a numbers matching vehicle, but instead a great custom short bed that was modified to be driven as a daily driver or on the open road as the new owner sees fit. There has been about 1,200 miles on the truck since the restoration.
This C10 started off as a good base project that evolved into more of a restoration as time went on. While the cab was solid, other components were not. The rockers were replaced, it was given a new right side fender, new bedsides and tailgate, along with a cowl induction hood. The body was stripped and customfront and rear roll pans werefabricated, gumball red paint, a blacked-out billet grill and an HID conversion for the headlamps were added as well. Not wanting to go big-wheel resto-mod, it was instead decided that a set of classic 15x9 Unique aluminum wheels that run 275/60-series Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires would complete the exterior look.
Inside the original bench seat was re-padded and recovered with period correct red and black hounds-tooth along with new lap belts for three occupants. The dash was painted to match the exterior and a new dash pad was installed along with new defroster vents and an updated steering wheel. New carpeting, pedal dress up kit, and door panels were also done at this time along with new front glass, seals and new window felts. The converted gauge cluster now includes Battery, Coolant Temperature and Oil Pressure gauges instead of the original warning lights. A modern Pioneer stereo with twin 6x9 door speakers and aux port was installed for music.
Under the hood is a 383 cubic-inch crate motor from Blue Print engines that produces 410hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. A 650 cfm Edelbrock carburetor sits on top with an HEI distributor with MSD cap and rotor. Cooling is accomplished via a 4-row brass radiator with electric fan – this truck does not run hot. A power brake front disc conversion was also added for improved stopping power. The rears retain the original drum brake setup. The transmission is a 700R4 automatic that was sourced from Bowtie Overdrives of Hesperia, CA. This not only improves drivability but having the overdrive is a godsend on the highway making 75-80mph cruising a non-issue. A GM 10-bolt with a 3.50-limited slip differential resides out back with KYB Gas-A-Just shocks.
Other items of note include a full-rubberized bed mat and key fob activated alarm system. This C10 runs and drives beautifully and is a joy around town or on the highway. As this vehicle is a 1969 model, there is no need for a smog certification here in the state of California.
Please feel free to ask as many questions as you wish, as you will receive honest answers. This truck cruises beautifully, is a joy to drive while still being able to function 100% as a usable pickup. The attention it receives is also a lot of fun.
