Description for Chevrolet Corvair 1966

Here is a brief history of the car I pieced together from the information and invoices that came with the car when I bought it. Purchased new in 1966. the original owner lived in Pennsylvania. I was built as a Monza convertible with a 110hp motor and a Powerglide transmission. He must have real liked this car because when he moved to Florida around 1992 he decided to restore it. In the process. he converted it into a Corsa with a period correct freshly rebuilt 140hp motor and 4 speed transmission. Any of the usual rust attacked areas were replaced or repaired. The interior was re-done and the body repainted Lemonwood yellow. The top was replaced and he added an electric fuel pump and front disc brakes. Most of the parts were from Clark's. He had an aircraft mechanic rebuild the engine. It seems the car was sold around 2000 and passed through a few owners until I bought it 3 years ago. It was a quality restoration that has held up very well and the interior. paint and chrome is still in great shape considering the restoration is over 20 years old. But it's starting to show it's age now. But this is still a good driver quality car. It gets compliments wherever I go. There are a few things I'd consider issues: The engine runs well. but the carbs could use some tuning. there is a flat spot between 2000-3000 rpm when accelerating hard. The fuel gauge works. but reads only ½ when full. The parade boot for the top has a tear in the right side. There are some spots on the lower body and around some of the trim where there is some bubbling. small rust spots or peeling in the paint. The panels still sound solid so some paint touching up may be in order. The paint still has lots of gloss. though. The A/C system does not blow cold. but it is complete and the fan and compressor clutch operates. The transmission shifter oil seal is starting to leak and needs replacement. Some peeling paint on the glovebox. Some of the "chromed" plastic interior parts look tired. Options: Telescopic steering column A/C AM-FMHeadrests"Wood" Steering Wheel
