Description for Chevrolet Nova 1968
1968 Nova SS 350--This is a true documented car-I have the broadcast sheet and the protecto plate with the car-The car has its matching # engine transmission and rear end-and is painted the correct Ash Gold Metallic with black vinyl top and correct gold bucket interior-Now let me tell you what I know about the car-I purchased the car from a man that has now passed away-He purchased the car in 2005-He then began a frame off restoration-the car was completely disassembled the car was then media blasted-It was a pretty decent car to start with-The engine was rebuilt back to factory specs-the transmission was also sent out for rebuilding-Every nut and bolt was removed off the car and replaced or restored--This process took until about 2009-He then got the car back from body and then had the interior and motor and trans put back together-Im a figuring most of this out from the mountain of receipts I got with the car-From what I gather the man then lost his wife and then I believe he lost his drive for everything-He passed away in 2012-This was his baby-Now from what I can figure the car has been sitting since 2011-2012-The car was pretty dusty and had 4 flat tires-I got it changed the oil and took the fuel out and got it running-It started right up and runs like new-So here is what I see on the car-The body is excellent-I found a couple minor flaws in the paint but you have to really look to find them-Like there is a little glue from the vinyl top that came out from under the moulding on the vinyl-I didn't mess with it-Im sure it will come off-He didn't replace the sill plates-they are still the old ones-It has ceramic coated headers on it and traction bars-I do not have the original exhaust manifolds-other than that it looks pretty factory-It needs a few things on the inside-All of which I have-It needs to have the dome light installed-the little piece of plastic under the sterring wheels needs to be installed-he painted the black part on the console-it has a full brand new interior-including seats from and rear. arpet. headliner. ackage tray. dash pad. door panels-so it has a new full interior and is really nice-For the outside? really really nice-It is painted the original Ash Gold Metallic with black vinyl top and chrome trim package-all of this is documented by the broadcast sheet-the bumpers and trim are nice--2 pieces of the trim around the back of the vinyl top are a little pitted and I believe they aren't available in reproduction that's why he didn't fix them-The vinyl top is new also and done right-the rear quarter panels still have the #'s stamped on the rails on the trunk opening showing that the quarter panels are original-I think they did a partial on the drivers side around the lip-I have pictures of the car before--The car originally came with steel wheels that were painted the same ash gold color-I have these wheels but do not have the dog dish caps-they were missing-I bought a brand new set of SS 15" rims and new BF Goodrich tires-I like the look better-But its your choice as the steel wheels come with the car and they come with brand new BF Goodrich tires mounted to the rims also-I have pics of them if you want to see them-Under the hood----The car retains its #'s matching L48 350 295 HP motor-It has the correct suffix code stamped on the block along with the VIN #-This is a matching # car-It also retains it original Muncie trans along with the correct vin stamped on it as well-It also retains its original 12 bolt posi rear end--It is 100% matching # car-The air cleaner and valve covers have some rust on them--The undercarriage----It is flawless-the car went through a frame off resto-Nut and bolt-Everything is new. media blasted powder coated and painted as it should be-Now the car has sat for some time and could use a little detailing underneath-But everything is new-Bushings. shocks. gas tank. he even had the original springs re-arched-I have receipts for all of this stuff--He kept everything--I also have a full file of photos from the day he bought the car to the day it was finished-Pics of the car being disassembled and media blasted and the frame being taken off--All of these pics are included in the sale-He had over $40. 00 into the restoration of this car not including the price of the car--Its a nice car-that was frame off restored but then sat awhile-so it will need some freshening but its a nice car--and with a little elbow grease and no money this car could be a very high end restored car-Oh and also its missing the antenna mast--forgot about that--I have lots of new bits and pieces that come with the car-Like a new trunk mat and just a bunch of little stuff-all brand new that he purchased-Now as for Novas???? here is the breakdown--1968 NOVA SS is by far the rarest of the 68-72's--they made 5571 Nova SS cars in 1968--in 1969 they made 17. 64 in 1970 they made 19. 58 in 1971 they made 7019 and in 1972 they made 12. 09--so with that being said 1968 is the rarest one with 5571 made--and this car is fully documented with its original motor trans and rear end-It is an original Ash Gold Metallic with black vinyl top with Gold Vinyl Bucket interior-As decoded by the trim tag-this car is correct-It also has its original protecto plate and broadcast sheet--in 1968 Nova's they weren't buildsheets-they were broadcast sheets-And this car has it showing it to be a true L48 Nova SS-It is not a #1 car but I will tell you is as nice if not nicer than all the Novas on Ebay-and its a 68 so its the rarest-I have a fairly low reserve on this car-As it is for sale--Not just put out there hoping for a big #-I want to sell the car-We are a licensed NY dealer-so if you are from NY you will have to pay sales tax on the car-Sorry but that's the NY law-I have to collect sales tax as a dealer-If you live outside Ny you don't pay the tax--Please feel free to come and inspect this car-I encourage it before bidding as this is a binding contract and I require a $1000 non refundable deposit immediately following the close of this auction-No exception-And I will not negotiate the price when you get here-Sorry I don't play that game--Now with that being said its a really nice car !!!! So happy bidding and good luckOn Jan-26-15 at 19:05:04 PST. seller added the following information: Getting a ton of questions about the reserve---I generally list cars at no reserve-But I have too much money into the car for that kind of a gamble-But the reserve is set in the mid to low 20's
