INTRODUCTORY NOTES: How many 57-year old Impalas can be left with a TOTAL southern solid-body history? This impressive survivor was cherished for many years by its original owner...an Atlanta Delta employee who drove it to work everyday. It was even built in Atlanta! Through the decades, it became a bit famous to classic car collectors who admired how well it was cared-for and preserved. Finally, it was acquired by a master-mechanic Chevrolet enthusiast with over 50 years of experience with these cars. A low mileage (under 50K miles) 348 cid engine was found, all mechanical details were thoroughly evaluated and rebuilt, restored or replaced as necessary for excellent road-worthiness. Then, the seats were re-upholstered, door panels replaced, and new carpet installed. New windshield and gasket...all new rubber seal gaskets too. New tires, refurbished hubcaps, and trunk kit installed as well. THE RESULT IS A SUPER-SHARP CAR TO "DRIVE & SHOW"...the stainless and aluminum trim are very nice. Bumpers were in amazingly good condition, so the owner opted for original patina vs. re-plating. The "bones" of this car were among the best you could ever find or hope for - extremely solid throughout. Stunning good looks elicit cheers from young and old. A "star" everywhere it goes. The famed iconic GM "Bubble Top" is totally unique...and will never be seen again. In sum, a well-preserved Southern classic such as this that is largely original and simply maintained mechanically and cosmetically "face-lifted" (e.g. new paint and upholstery/carpet) is preferred by many to a completely disassembled/reassembled car that loses some charm.
LOCATION: Fayetteville, GA ...approx. 22 miles south of Atlanta EXCELLENT INVESTMENT - the best cars of the 1950s have been "Blue Chip" investments for decades, and will continue to be. The 1960 Impala Bubble-Top has a special and unique following among classic car and Chevy lovers worldwide...a smart "bet" for potential continued appreciation. SPECIAL OFFER FOR TRI-POWER TO EBAY BUYER...as shown at left, we have a restored Tri-Power set-up (Three-2-BBL carbs, Manifold, Air Cleaner, and Progressive Linkage). We also give a very detailed description of the car...not just a couple sentences like many listings. QUESTIONS?...after reviewing ALL the images and reading the entire description, please call Jim Murphy if you have any questions: 706-429-7924 OPERATIONAL REPORT: To cruise in this gorgeous classic is to experience the closest thing to time-travel that we will ever have! It drives smoothly, and shifts - turns - stops with confidence. Note: there is a bit of resistance in moving the shift lever to the "Park" position...which is greatly helped by first moving the lever all the way to the right, and then back to "Park". Everything works, with the following minor exceptions... - Clock
- Lighter
- Windshield Washer (Pump restored...but not connected)
ODOMETER NOTE...the 90,815 mileage indicated is believed to be original to the car, and so it has not been disturbed/reset. However, due to the design limitations of 1960-era odometers, mileage cannot be ascertained with complete certainty. NOTE: the low mileage 348 cid engine installed in the car is believed to have less than 50,000 miles. The vehicle will be released to the Buyer immediately upon - but not before - FULL bank clearance of payment.
