Description for Chevrolet C/K Pickup 3500 1993
Up for bids is the ultimate highway hauler! 1993 Chevy 2WD crew cab dually with the mighty Cummins turbo diesel backed by the twin counter shaft Eaton fuller Roadranger 10 speed with overdrive. Yep, you read that right! Rebuilt RTO-6610. It was originally a RT-6610 and I added the overdrive set to it along with new bearings, seals and rear yoke. Almost the same overdrive ratio as the NV4500. The rear yoke is a 1710. It has a custom driveline built for the 1710 that necks down to the stock driveline. No vibrations.Having the SAE #2 flywheel housing in it, you could install other HD transmissions in it if you didn't like not having syncros. You could even install an HD Allison!
The intercooler came out of a 93 Dodge Ram. It fits right behind the grille. Also used a new 93 Dodge radiator. I had to remove the cap because it would hit the hood. I installed an inline filler cap on the upper radiator hose.
The engine is a rebuilt 1993 VE pump intercooled 5.9L Cummins. All new bearings, seals, and rings. The block just needed honed, so it has a standard bore. The head was also gone through with a valve job, seals, magnafluxed and machined flat. New Cummins head bolts and head gasket. It only has a few thousand miles on it. Installed DAP injectors, 24 valve oil pump for higher volume, billet freeze plugs, billet KDP and Hamilton cam. I had all of the valve covers powdercoated black.
I installed has 60 pound exhaust springs and a BD exhaust brake. I bought a switch kit that fits the Fuller shifter for the exhaust brake. Makes it really nice pulling heavy loads down mountains. I also installed switches on the throttle and clutch, so it works just like it should. When you let off the throttle, the EB comes on. You touch either the throttle or the clutch, and it shuts off. Master control is on the shifter, within easy reach.
The truck was originally a 6.5L diesel.
It has an Amsoil bypass filter to protect the engine. I also installed a large reservoir for the power steering and hydroboost. It came off of a medium duty truck and has a filer incorporated in it.
The pump is stock with a M&H timing spacer and fuel pin. HE341 turbo that spools right off the bottom. Huge upgrade from the stock one and tows great! It will easily produce 40 PSI with the adjustable boost fooler. The turbo came out of a 2004 pickup with only 80K on it.
Faas HD fuel pump mounted under the bed to keep clean fuel fed to the injection pump.
Prodigy P2 electric brake controller for stopping those heavy trailers.
I installed a Snow performace water meth setup on it with a 7 gallon reservoir in the truck box to keep EGT's under control and give a bump in horse power. Works awesome! Quite a boost in power along with the cooling effect.
Billet grid heater delete, and billet valve cover bolts. I have the original grid heater if you want to install it with a couple of relays.
The onboard air comes from the rebuilt twin cylinder, liquid cooled, engine oil lubed, gear driven air brake compressor. 5 gallon tank mounted under the drivers side. Yes, plenty of air to not only run the trans, but also to pump up tires and run air tools! This guy provides almost as much air as a shop compressor! Very reliable as it is designed to run air brakes. I added in an air chuck inside the tool box on the drivers side. Of course I had to add in the air horn too....
I installed a power plug on the front bumper so you don't have a cord hanging out of the grille for the block heater. I also put a trickle charger on the same cord to keep the batteries topped off when it sits.
In the bed, we have a Airbox revolution, 18K air ride 5th wheel hitch and air bags under the truck. You have full control the bags inside the cab. Left and right are controlled independently. Makes for a really smooth ride on long trips! It used to have the old style slide in hitch, so there are other holes in the bed for those.
The rear end has 3.21 gears, so it is great for highway towing. It runs 1450 RPM at 55. The stock gears were 4.11 and way too low for the Cummins. When I installed these gears, I put in all new bearings, seals and brakes with new drums, hardware and wheel cylinders.
The clutch is a massive Fuller twin disk, pull type clutch with a clutch brake. It will not slip no matter what you put behind it! I built a bracket to use the stock Dodge hydraulics and the stock Chevy master for a nice easy pedal.
Tires are in good shape.
All Autometer gauges except for the air bags. Autometer doesn't make a dual needle gauge. Oil pressure, temp, and fuel pressure on the pillar. Main air pressure and bag pressure down low, EGT and boost in the center of the dash.
Along with the aftermarket gauges, all factory gauges work, including the speedometer and tach. Even the A/C works! I installed the high mount, medium duty brackets on the passenger side of the motor for the A/C and alternator. It has a new 24SI HP high output alternator.
Upgraded the 70/30 seats to power buckets out of a Suburban with lumbar. My wife wanted lumbar on her side.... Grant mahogany steering wheel.
It used to have stacks, so there is a hole in the bed for it if you wanted to do it again. It sounded awesome, and looked sweet, but long trips with the family, pulling a 5th wheel was difficult. It was loud! Pretty much sounded like a log truck. Everybody loved it until you had to hear it for 10 hours straight. Then came the muffler and tail pipe! It still sounds good, but not like open stacks.
It has electric extendable towing mirrors that are made here in Oregon. Pretty cool feature for backing up big trailers. You just push a button on the drivers side door and they extend out.
Viper alarm with remote start! Works awesome on those cold days. Push a button, wait a little bit for it to warm up, then head out to a nice warm defrosted truck!
Comes with the Cobra CB and 150 watt linear.
Custom billet caps for the radiator overflow and windshield washer fluid tanks. You will have the only ones like it. They are one of a kind!
New, made in USA lug nuts. Those were hard to find!
Now for the not so good stuff.......
The clear coat has started to come loose in many places. It will need paint! There are a few little dings here and there, but nothing major. It is not perfect. There is NO RUST! The body is SOLID. The hood is just primered but also in good shape.
The motor is still using some oil. It just needs to be ran hard pulling a load to seat the rings. I will be driving it and trying to get them to seat until sold.
The only reason I am selling it is because I needed to go to a 4WD. I didn't want to do the 4X4 conversion because of the 10 speed. I would have to run a divorced transfercase.
If you do not know how to drive with a semi transmission, I suggest you look elsewhere. It is not like driving a 5 speed. If you have spent some time in the drivers seat of a big rig, you are good to go!
I built this truck with the intention of keeping it. I did everything the way it should be done. No cutting corners. This is my baby, so you are getting a conversion that is done by someone who loved the truck, not someone trying to make a buck. I know I will never get out of it what I put into it. I would not hesitate to jump in and drive across the country and back pulling a 5th wheel.
Now the fine print.....
