Description for Chevrolet 2 roor wagon 1957
10+ years ago this wagon started out as a stinky old rust bucket. If you are looking for a perfect car this is not for you. But if you like something different that anybody else at the cruise in or you are looking for a promotional vehicle this may be for you. This rare 2 door wagon ( not a Nomad) has undergone a complete frame off restoration on a budget. The early 70's frame was sandblasted and painted DP90 black primer. The bumpers were too far gone to restore so we patched them and painted them in the same DP90 primer along with all the trim. The floor was completely removed and replaced with new steel. Any rust was cut out and replaced with steel including the rear upper door and tailgate where new cable assemblies were installed. The entire body was gone over but still shows some wavy areas. Painted all in DP 90 primer for some lucky person to put their own stamp on the exterior. Or you can leave it murdered out black like it is. I think it looks pretty good but that's me. It looks different. The interior as you can see from the pics is done but on a tight budget. Power bucket seats were installed but the passenger is not powered and sits slightly to the right an easy fix that I have not had time to do. Gages are a mixed bag of original and aftermarket. New Iditit tilt column. New carpet, new headliner. 3 floor mounted hidden compartments one of which behind the passengers seat holds the battery. Glass is all good. Had Raingear wipers installed but they have a problem that I have not had time to fix.
Now to the front end. I swapped out the motor for this (from what I was told) recently rebuilt mildly built 350 mated to a rebuilt 350 turbo trans. I have had problems getting fuel up to the carb but it probably just needs to be run. Lots of squeeks and rattles as you would expect from the suspension. Dics brakes up front drums out back new master cyl and booster but brakes need bleeding. Irock wheels with new tires.
I not going to guild the lilly here this wagon will need some work to get it roadworthy but in the end you will have something very nice and different. Personal inspection is encouraged call Jerald@ 931-267-4999 to arrange.
