Description for Chevrolet Suburban 1953
Selling our 1953 Chevy Suburban.Adult owned and parked inside. These things are getting harder and harder to find, especially in this kind of top notch condition. This burb is awesome and is a fantastic driver. Even with it's subtle style and design, it still gets a ton of attention everywhere we take it. Needs nothing except a new home.Professionally built using only top of the line parts. As you can see, the body is bare metal and has no clear coat or anything over it, so if the new owner chooses, they can bodywork and paint it without having to strip off any current clear/oil etc.Body is 99% rust free, there is a tiny little spot of surface rust down along the rear quarter panel about 5" long. It's not really visible unless you are laying on the ground.Other than that,it is extremelysolid. All glass is good with no cracks. There are some dents and dings here and there but over all, it's very straight considering it's age. As you can see, this thing lays out on the ground when the air is out of the bags.Wheels are brand new 18" Mobsteel wheels and smooth center caps. Powdercoated flat black. Tires are Nexens and have approx. 750 miles on them. The front suspension is an aftermarketMustang II setup with tubular control arms. Rear suspension isa No Limit parallel 4 link and panhard bar. Slam Specialties airbags are used at all 4 corners. Ridetech double adjustable shocks at all 4 corners. Rides super nice. Air management is controlled via Accuair eLevel, an Accuair tankwith exo mounts and 2 Viair compressors. If you are unfamiliar with this system, it is state of the art air management. There are ride-height sensors at all 4 corners and are monitored via a computer that automatically raises/lowers the vehicle to pre-programmed ride heights. Very easy to use. Engine is a strong running 283 small block Chevy with a th350 transmission that is shifted via a B&M floor shifter. Both engine/transrun great with zero issues. Engine has mild cam and sounds excellent through the dual exhaust. Aluminum radiator, electric fan. The interior is very well done. Seats are upholstered with Relicate black leather and Relicate German square -weave carpet covers the floors. Custom louvered panels along the sides. The rear has a false floor setup that conceals the airride. It is insulated and dynamated on the inside so you really don't hear the compressors running when they are filling the tank. All doors open and shut great. All lights and turn signals work great. Factory gauges do not work but there are 3 accessory gauges mounted under the dash that work.Things that were replaced or upgraded within the last 6 months are: New Optima battery, new window channels for all windows (no rattles) new ignition, new Flaming River steering rack, new tie-rod ends, new balljoints, new front brakes, front end alignment. I also added a vintage aluminum Fulton visor this summer. This thing drives great down the road and cruises on the highway. We have used this as our "family hotrod" and taken it on several longer trips with zero issues. All in all this is a great vehicle with a lot of life left in it. One of my favorite things about it is the history of it. It began life as an ambulance for the US Army during the Korean war.(It's a Veteran!) It originally had a light/vent assembly on the roof. At some point, someone removed the light and patched the round hole. When they did this, it distorted the roof a little.I think it gives it character and everyone is always intrigued by it when I tell them the story. It's nothing bad, but I just want to be up front about the vehicle.
We are located in Liberty Township Ohio about 25 miles north of Cincinnati. The burb will not leave the garage until funds have cleared. Clear Ohio title in my name.(note* it is titled as a GMC) Buyer to arrange shipping/transport. I will sell to international buyers but again, buyer is responsible for shipping. $500 deposit due within 24hrs of auction ending. I will add a buy it price for serious buyers.I am only selling to free up some space for other projects, not forced to sell. Please email with any questions. Thanks for looking!
