Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1955
Classic cars can only be fully appreciated by driving them. Sure, it may not make sense for a classic to be your ride to work every day, but certainly getting behind the wheel and onto the asphalt adds a dimension of enjoyment to ownership that you just can't get from staring at a vintage vehicle from the outside. This 1955 Chevrolet 210 is decked out with all the touches you'd want to hit the boulevard right now.
The 210 already gets a proverbial head start in the looks department, with just the visage you conjure up in your mind's eye when you think "50's sedan". It's got a generously-proportioned, sturdy build, with beefy chrome bumpers and an ornate grille that sits just below that rocket-shaped emblem pointing the way forward toward your next adventure. Originally starting its life in beige, the exterior on this sedan has been brightened considerably with a two-tone, blue and white makeover configured to match the curvature of its exterior. The chrome trim is in especially nice condition from front to back and the panels fit together well, with no unevenness anywhere you look. It's got a slightly inclined stance - enough to confer an aggressive nature while still lending itself to actual driving enjoyment. With its unique, 3 windows to a side configuration and that sloping roofline, it gives off a definite nostalgic "best of times" vibe . . . just what you'll experience from behind the wheel.
Peer inside and you'll see an interior you'll really appreciate, with lots of great details throughout. It sports the same blue and white theme as the exterior, with the same creative application. The cloth bench seats both fore and aft are looking especially fresh and don't appear to have seen much use at all. There's a new cloth headliner above and carpeting below. The dashboard is especially inspired, matching the same blue and white theme and sporting an effective mix of new and old technology. An aftermarket tachometer has been added, resting comfortably on a striking, chrome Ididit tilt column below the fan shaped original speedometer. Just below the new ignition switch, a set of gauges stand at the ready to monitor voltage, water temperature and oil pressure. Extra care has gone into the touches that add to driving comfort. The Vintage Air A/C system in optimum working condition and even the sockets on the dash lights have been replaced to ensure maximum brightness. Occupying center position is a period appropriate-looking AM/FM/CD system, with a blue Chevy bowtie at its center and it's connected to a multi-disc CD changer residing in the spacious trunk that's also lined with a new floor mat.
Unlike many other classics, this 210 is no mechanical work in progress. That work's been done and it's ready to start its next chapter and hit the road NOW. The Chevy 350 V8 has been totally rebuilt and fires up right away, with the add-ons you'd want joining it, including a Holley 4 barrel carb, a Comp Cams camshaft, an electric fan to accompany the new radiator to keep things cool. The combo of headers plus a Flowmaster exhaust make for easy unrestricted exhaling. This strong-running engine is bolted to a 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission revered for its dependability and featuring wide ratios that make this Chevy exceedingly drivable in a variety of conditions, with a low first gear for off the line acceleration and a .70 overdrive for low revs on the highway. A cavalcade of additional new parts join the mix for continued carefree motoring enjoyment, including new wiring from front to back, new leaf springs, tie rods, drive shaft, gas tank, brake lines and battery. A set of mooncap wheels wrapped in Silvertown whitewall radials puts the finishing stylistic touch on this seriously nice ride.
